Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: May 20-25

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Jamarion Bardwell (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Track & Field) Sacred Heart Griffin has their first boys track and field state champ since 1954! Bardwell won the 2A triple jump title on Saturday at Eastern Illinois University. His winning jump was 14.06 meters or 46 feet 1.5 inches.

Samantha Gleckler (Rochester Softball) The Rockets won an all Central State Eight regional title game in extra innings at home on Thursday. In the bottom of the eighth it was Gleckler who came up with the RBI single to walk it off for a 3-2 victory over Springfield High. Gleckler finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted in. Rochester will travel to Charleston for a sectional semifinal on Tuesday. See the game winning hit and more HERE.

Hayden Hicks (Jacksonville Baseball) The Crimsons are regional champs! Jacksonville won a 3A regional title at home on Saturday in a 4-0 victory over CS8 opponent Rochester. Hicks got it done at the plate and on the mound. He went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk. While on the mound, Hicks pitched seven innings, allowed three hits and no earned runs. He also struck out seven in the process. The Crimsons head to the Rochester sectional this week.

Rowann Law (Glenwood Girls Soccer) The Titans won their fourth straight sectional title on Saturday with a double overtime victory over Pleasant Plains. The game was scoreless at the end of regulation before both teams scored in the first overtime period. With 2:35 left in the second overtime, it was Law with a penalty kick to put Glenwood ahead 2-1 as they held on for the win. Titans travels to Triad for a super sectional on Tuesday. Irie Lohrenz (Glenwood Softball) Glenwood won a regional championship on their home field on Thursday in a 10-0 victory over Jacksonville. Lohrenz pitched a complete game for the Titans while allowing just one hit and no runs. She struck out eight in the process. The Titans travel to the Charleston sectional this week. Kaiden Maurer (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) The Trojans are in the elite eight once again! Maroa Forsyth won a sectional title at Millikin on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over Monticello. Maurer was on the mound for the Trojans and threw seven innings for the win. He allowed four hits, no earned runs and struck out ten. He also picked up a hit and a drew a walk at the plate. Maroa Forsyth plays in a super sectional on Monday at Lincoln Land. Check out some highlights of the sectional title win HERE.

Krayton Reincke (Glenwood Baseball) Glenwood picked up a regional title at home on Saturday with a 8-4 victory over Mt Zion. Reincke had a good day at the plate as he reached base in every at bat. He went 3-for-3 with one walk, one RBI and one run scored. Glenwood will play a sectional semifinal game on Wednesday at Rochester. Some highlights of the victory HERE.

Caroline Sheehan (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Soccer) The Cyclones won the 1A Riverton Sectional on Wednesday with a 5-1 victory over Quincy Notre Dame. In that title game victory it was Sheehan leading the way for SHG with a hat trick for three of the five Cyclone goals. Highlights of the victory HERE.

Meena Taylor (Auburn Softball) Auburn won a sectional title in exciting fashion on Saturday in a nine innings game against Olympia. Tied at two in the top of nine it was Taylor who hit a go ahead 2-run homer. That wasn’t her first big hit of the day, in the top of five Taylor hit a double that tied the game. She finished 2-5 with 3 runs batted in while also striking out 16 in nine innings pitched. The Trojans will play in a super sectional on Monday in Decatur. Brooklyn Termine (Williamsville Girls Soccer) The Bullets are heading to state for the first time since 2016! Williamsville took on Rock Island Alleman in a super sectional game at Illinois Valley Central on Saturday and picked up the 1-0 win. The lone goal of the game came from Termine early in the first half as the Bullets held on for the victory. They now play in a state semifinal game on Thursday.
