LLCC: Loggers Basketball take Commanding Lead and Don’t Look Back

A strong first half propelled the Lincoln Land women’s basketball team to a 101-66 victory over Lewis & Clark. Offensively, Freshman Sam Lindhorst scored 19 first half points and Sophomore Avrie Schmidt drained three 3 point baskets. Defensively, the Loggers were stingy allowing only 25 first half points to the Trailblazers.
Lincoln Land entered the third quarter up 61-25. Marley Smith proceeded to take over offensively. The 5’10 Sophomore scored 9 points in the frame that included a corner three. Schmidt added her fourth 3 point basket but Lewis & Clark outscored the Loggers 25-20.

Lincoln Land still had a commanding 81-50 lead entering the final quarter. Once again Sam Lindhorst was the offensive catalyst. The 5’9 guard added eight points to her game high 27.  Avrie Schmidt added yet another 3 point basket as the Loggers went over the century mark winning 101-66.

Sam Lindhorst lead all scores with 27. Avrie Schmidt finished with 21 and Marley Smith had 20. Whitney Rumbold had a double/double of 11 points and a game high 14 rebounds. Rounding out the Logger scoring was Megan Harrell 14, Rilee Riggs 4, Durbin Thomas 2 and Nolee Sollars 2.

Lincoln Land improves to 15-2 and 2-0 in M-WAC play. The Loggers return to action Saturday, Jan. 20 as they travel to East Peoria to play Illinois Central College. Tip off starts at 1:00.
