LLCC Softball: Loggers Drop Two at Home

G1 – ICC

Sage Carr collected three hits in three at bats, but the Loggers lost to Illinois Central College 14-6 on Tuesday. Carr hit a home run to center field in the fourth inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Illinois Central College got on the board in the top of the first inning after Maranda File induced Shylar Boze to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Marlee Brown singled, scoring two runs, and Zoe Eeten doubled, scoring two runs. Illinois Central College extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Gracie White and Marley Williamson.

Carr homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Loggers. Illinois Central College scored five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning. Boze drew a walk, scoring one run, Graci Guenther singled, scoring two runs, and Hanna Evans singled, scoring two runs.

Evans earned the win for Illinois Central College. They gave up seven hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking five. File took the loss for the Loggers. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering eight runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking one.

Hannah Myers and Carr each drove in three runs for the Loggers. Destiny Loeb led the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.

Illinois Central College piled up 19 hits in the game. Williamson and White were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Illinois Central College. Williamson went 4-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with three runs batted in. Madi Kessler, Evans, Eeten, and Guenther each collected multiple hits for Illinois Central College. Illinois Central College had patience at the plate, accumulating four walks for the game. Illinois Central College were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Guenther made the most plays with 11.

The Loggers couldn’t keep up with Illinois Central College and fell 11-5 on Tuesday. Illinois Central College opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two doubles. Illinois Central College first got on the board when Shylar Boze doubled, scoring three runs. Illinois Central College extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Nivarra Oredina and Boze. Illinois Central College added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Oredina walked, and Boze singled, each scoring one run. Oredina homered to left field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Illinois Central College.

Brogan Hall earned the win for Illinois Central College. The starting pitcher surrendered 11 hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Bailey Teasley pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for the Loggers. The righty gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) while, striking out two and walking one. Kaylee Yost took the loss for the Loggers. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, surrendering nine runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking five.

The Loggers amassed 11 hits in the game. Allie Dolenc and Sage Carr were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Loggers. Haley Willan and Carr were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Loggers. Amelia Telger collected two hits for the Loggers in four at bats. Sydney Glick stole two bases. The Loggers stole three bases in the game.

Illinois Central College piled up 13 hits in the game. Boze provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Illinois Central College with six runs batted in. The third baseman went 3-for-5 on the day. Boze and Gracie White each collected three hits for Illinois Central College. Oredina collected two hits for Illinois Central College in two at bats. Oredina paced Illinois Central College with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

The Loggers Softball 2024 will play Heartland Community College for their next game on Friday.
