Luke Baxter (Glenwood Boys Soccer) Glenwood won a big conference game on Thursday against the SHG Cyclones, who came into the game unbeaten this season. The Titans won the game 3-0 and it was Baxter who got the scoring started with 39 seconds left in the first half. Check out the highlights HERE.
Ava Hillyer (Sacred Heart Griffin Volleyball) The Cyclones got big wins on back to back nights last week with a three set victory over Glenwood on Tuesday and a two set win over Pleasant Plains on Wednesday. The senior setter has been steady for SHG all season and had some big plays of her own in the rivalry win over the Titans. Highlights of the win over Glenwood HERE and Pleasant Plains HERE.
Hannah Holliday (Williamsville Volleyball) It’s the freshman’s first time on this list but it won’t be the last. The Bullets picked up a two set win over the Rochester Rockets on Monday. In that win Holliday had nine kills, an ace, a block and seven digs. In a close three set loss to Glenwood on Thursday she had 20 kills and an ace. Mason Jacobs (Rochester Football) The Rockets bounced back from a loss to Cardinal Ritter with a 63-7 win over Lincoln on Friday night. Jacobs finally found the endzone after some bad luck the last few weeks. He had four touchdowns and 125 receiving yards for Rochester in the win. See some first half highlights HERE.
Jimmy Lollar (Olympia Football) The Spartans got a 43-34 win at home over Pittsfield on Friday night and Lollar led the way for Olympia. He rushed for 225 yards on 25 carries on his way to four touchdowns. Highlights of the victory HERE.
Ali Londrigan (Glenwood Girls Cross Country) The Titans traveled to Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday for the First to the Finish meet. In the 2A girls race it was Glenwood who picked up the team victory and Londrigan was the lead runner for the Titans. She finished fourth with a time of 17:33.8. Some highlights HERE.
Noah Molitor (Normal U-High Boys Soccer) The Pioneers traveled south to take on the Rochester Rockets on Tuesday and took home a 4-2 victory. In the U-High win it was Molitor leading the way with a hat trick for the Pioneers. Highlights of that performance HERE.
Alexis Neumann (Glenwood Volleyball) The Titans had a busy week with two big home games and a trip to the Lincoln Tournament over the weekend. Neumann had a couple big games at home, the first came in a three set loss to SHG in which she picked up 12 kills and 13 digs. Then in a close three set win over Williamsville Neumann had 18 kills and 14 digs. She was also selected for the all-tournament team in Lincoln. Kade Parker (PORTA Boys Cross Country) The Bluejays hosted the PORTA Invite on Saturday and Parker picked up an individual win. He is the first Bluejay to win their home invite since 2010 and finished with a time of 16:06.7. The performance also helped lead the team to a second place finish and he won the Rushville Invite earlier in the week.
Peyton Sasse (Lincoln Volleyball) The Railers went down to the wire with Rochester on Tuesday night with a 25-23, 20-25, 29-27 victory. In the win it was the senior helping to lead the way for Lincoln. Sasse picked up 19 kills, an ace, three blocks and seven digs in the win. Check out the highlights HERE.
Brody Scheffler (Springfield High Football) The Senators are out to a 3-0 start this season after a win over Lanphier to start CS8 play on Friday night. Scheffler threw for 213 yards and five touchdowns in the 56-12 win.
Jeffrey Sturm (Springfield High Boys Soccer) The Senators picked up a conference win over Jacksonville on Thursday with a 3-0 victory. Sturm picked up the shutout in goal with four saves during the game. See highlights of the victory HERE.
Alek Weiland (Normal U-High Football) The Pioneers started Central State Eight play with a 48-7 win over MacArthur at Hancock Stadium on Friday night. Weiland continues to roll with five touchdowns in the game. He threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 12 yards and one score. Check out two of those TDs HERE.
Louisa Wilson (Williamsville Girls Cross Country) A big win for the Bullets on Saturday at the First to the Finish meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria. The Williamsville girls won the team title in 1A as Wilson led the way. She was the Bullets’ top finisher with a 12th place finish in 18:14.1. Some highlights of the meet HERE.
Carson Wort (Pawnee Football) Pawnee picked up a rivalry win on Saturday with a 28-8 win over South Fork. Wort scored all the Indians touchdowns in the game as he rushed for 171 yards on 24 carries for four touchdowns. See highlights of the win HERE.
