Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: May 6-11

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Andy Antonacci (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones picked up an exciting victory over Normal U-High on Tuesday with a walk-off conference win. Antonacci had the hit that lead to the winning run in the ninth. He finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate along with two walks. Antonacci also threw six innings on the mound allowing two earned runs and striking out three. Check out the highlights of the extra inning victory HERE.

Caleb Chamberlain (Glenwood Baseball) The Titans are Central State Eight champs after a win over Springfield High on Thursday. Chamberlain picked up the win in four innings pitched. He allowed just one hit and struck out four. See the highlights of the conference clinching victory HERE.

Shelby Finchum (Olympia Softball) Olympia picked up a 3-2 win over Auburn on Monday to claim the Sangamo title outright. In the conference clinching win, Finchum drove in the game winning run thanks to a sac fly. She also scored a run in the game. A couple days later against Normal Community, Finchum went 5-for-5 at the plate with two runs batted in, two runs scored and a solo homer. See highlights of the victory against Auburn HERE.

Grady Grisham (Pleasant Plains Baseball) The Cardinals won the Sangamo outright on Tuesday with an 8-1 victory over Olympia. In that win Grisham had a perfect day at the plate going 4-for-4 while driving in two and scoring a run. He also had three stolen bases in the game. Highlights of the win HERE.

Hope Keenan (Williamsville Softball) The Bullets ended the regular season with a four win week including a 7-4 victory over CS8 champs, Glenwood. In that game it was Keenan who picked up the win as she threw four innings of relief. She allowed just two hits and no runs in those four innings. Krish Khurana and James Oh (Springfield High Boys Tennis) The Central State Eight doubles title went to Khurana and Oh on Saturday at Washington Park as the Senators picked up the team title as well. Their victory came against the SHG team of Harvey and Aleman, 6-3, 7-6. Day one conference tournament highlights HERE and day two highlights HERE.

Wyatt Mammen (Lincoln Baseball) Mammen is now a school record holder at Lincoln Community High School. On Wednesday against Pleasant Plains, Mammen picked up his 17th career win for the record. He pitched 6.2 innings in the 6-0 Railers victory allowing three hits and striking out six.

Hannah Safranek (Normal U-High Girls Track and Field) The Pioneers won a sectional title last week at the 2A Metamora Sectional. Safranek was a major part of the win picking up one individual victory and was also a part of two relay victories. She won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.80 seconds. While the relay victories came in the 4×100 (48.03) and the 4×200 (1:42.79).

Van Schneider (Glenwood Boys Track and Field) Glenwood won their fourth straight CS8 title on Thursday at Southeast. Schneider continues to be a major piece of the Titan’s team as he finished top two in all three events he competed in. Victories came as an individual in the 800 meter (1:56.14) and as a part of the 4×800 team (8:13.89). He was also a part of the 4×400 team that finished second with a time of 3:27.43. Meena Taylor (Auburn Softball) A career milestone this week for the junior as she picked up her 600th strikeout. That milestone moment came in a 4-3 win over Tri-City. Taylor pitched seven innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs and recorded 15 strikeouts.

Noah Williams (Springfield High Boys Tennis) The Senators won the conference title at Washington Park this weekend and in the process Williams won his fourth straight CS8 singles title. The victory came with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Paxton Garland-Slutter of Rochester in the finals. You can check out highlights of day one of the tournament HERE and the day two HERE.

Abigail Wolters (Pleasant Plains Girls Track & Field) Not only did the Cardinals host a 1A sectional last week, they also picked up the team title. Wolters was a part of first place finishes in three events. An individual win came in the 800 meter (2:24.77). She also was on the winning 4×400 (4:12.91) and 4×800 (10:14.61) teams.

Lillian Woodworth (Tri-City Softball) The Tornadoes clinched the MSM title outright on Saturday in game one of a double header against Nokomis.  Woodworth went 3-for-4 in the game with two RBIs. She also struck out 12 in seven innings pitched. See highlights of the 10-3 victory HERE.
