Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: March 18-23

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Zoe Carter (Normal UHigh Track and Field) This Pioneer didn’t have to travel far to pick up a Illinois Top Time Indoor Championship title on Saturday. Carter took a trip to the Shirk Center and won the 2A 3200 meter with a time of 10:37.14.

Caleb Cox (Lutheran High Baseball) The Crusaders picked up a 6-3 win over Lanphier on Saturday and it was the sophomore helping lead the way. On the mound, Cox threw five innings allowing just two hits and striking out 12. He also went 2 for 4 at the plate and scored a run.

Cassandra Feld (Glenwood Softball) The Titan senior picked up a big record in week two of the season, she hit career home run number 17 to break the school softball record on Thursday night. That home run came in a 4-0 win over Pontiac with a two run homer. Feld also threw seven innings that night allowing one hit and striking out ten. Gigi Gray (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Soccer) The Cyclones are out to a 5-0 start this season after two weeks of play. On Wednesday at Cyclones Stadium, it was Gray who picked up a shutout in goal as SHG picked up a 5-0 win over Pleasant Plains. See highlights of that game HERE.

Grace Groetken (Normal UHigh Girls Soccer) The reigning 1A state champs picked up a conference victory over Rochester on Thursday with a 2-0 victory. It was Groetken in goal that night who preserved the shutout. You can check out highlights of that win HERE.

Becca Heitzig (Lincoln Track and Field) Heitzig continues picking up medals this year with two wins at the 2A Illinois Top Time Indoor Championship on Saturday. She took first in the 800 meter with a time of 2:12.86 and first in the 1600 meter at 5:04.13. She will look to pick up her third 800m state championship in May at Eastern.

Skylar Meats (Auburn Softball) Meats had a great day at the plate as the Trojans picked up a win over Hartsburg Emden on Thursday. She went three-for-three while driving in six runs and scoring two runs.

Chance Payne (Mt Pulaski Baseball) The Hilltoppers traveled to Williamsville on Friday night and took home a win. Payne led the way on the mound striking out 15 in 5.1 innings pitched and only allowing one run. He also picked up an RBI in the 7-3 victory. Check out highlight of the Mt Pulaski win HERE.

Addie Stadsholt (Athens Track and Field) Stadsholt is the 1A indoor champion after a win at the Illinois Top Time Indoor Championship meet in Bloomington on Friday. She took first place in shot put with a throw of 11.76 meters.

Makhiya Stephen (Maroa Forsyth Track and Field) The Trojans brought back many awards from the 1A Illinois Top Time Indoor Championship on Friday but it was Stephen who picked up the top prize. She took first place in the 60 meter hurdles at the event with a time of 8.95.

Aubrey Vogel (PORTA Softball) The Lady Jays had a busy week with four games and they went 3-1 in the process. PORTA picked up wins over Routt, Lanphier and North Mac. Vogel hit .700 during the four game stretch with three home runs and eight RBIs. She also had the only hit in a loss to Springfield.

Mia Volpert (Springfield High Softball) A big game for Volpert on Friday as the Senators picked up a 11-0 win over PORTA. At the plate she hit a grand slam while going three-for-three with five RBIs and three runs scored. She also finished a double shy of a cycle. In the circle that night she threw four innings allowing just one hit and striking out ten. Highlights of that performance HERE.

Kenzie Wieland (Sacred Heart Griffin Softball) The Cyclones picked up two wins last week and Wieland helped lead the team in both victories. In a 8-5 win over Lincoln, she went 2-3 with four runs batted in and picked up six strikeouts in relief. The next night Weiland struck out 17 in seven innings pitched in a 2-1 win over Maroa Forsyth.

Noah Williams (Springfield High Tennis) At the Cyclone Invitational this weekend it was Williams who picked up the #1 singles title. He won the title match 6-4, 6-1 over Alex Fei of Dunlap as the Senators would pick up second in the eight team tournament.
