Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: March 11-16

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Gabbie Branson (PORTA Softball) The Bluejays got things started on Thursday with a 10-8 extra innings win over Lincoln. Branson went four for five at the plate with two runs batted in and three runs scored. She also pitched all nine innings and struck out seven in the process. She followed that up with a hit and run scored against Beardstown on Saturday in a win where she pitched four innings striking out five. See highlights of the win over Lincoln HERE.

Danika Frazier (Olympia Softball) The University of Illinois commit had two impressive outings in the first week of the season. In a win over Bloomington Central Catholic,  she pitched five innings, allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out ten. Frazier then pitched seven innings, allowing one hit, a run (a home run) and struck out 14 in a 5-1 win against Brimfield.

Taylor Keirs (North Mac Softball) The Panthers had a busy week with four games and finished with a 3-1 record. Keirs helped at the plate and in the circle in those victories. She finished the week with 13.2 innings pitched and 15 strikeouts. She also hit .375 from the lead off position. Highlights of their game against Auburn HERE.

Evan Kessler (Auburn Baseball) The Trojans got the season started with three wins. Kessler went five for eight in the three games at the plate with seven runs batted in. Two of those hits were homers in games against North Mac and Jacksonville. He also threw four innings, allowing one hit and striking out ten in the win over North Mac. Rylann Law (Glenwood Girls Soccer) Probably not the first time she will make an appearance on this list this season. In a conference matchup between two defending state champs, it was Law who picked up two goals before halftime. The Titans would go on to win 4-1 to start Central State Eight play. Charlie Linderman (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones went 3-0 to kickoff the season. In two of those wins Linderman totaled four runs batted in on three hits while scoring three runs. In the final game of the week he drew three walks and scored a run while pitching three innings allowing one run. See highlights of SHG’s win over Williamsville HERE.

Izzy Nowack (Williamsville Softball) The Bullets started the season in exciting fashion. They picked up back to back walk offs victories on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both of those walk off hits came from Nowack (her only two hits of the week). In a 3-2 win over SHG, she singled in the bottom of seven to bring home the runner. In a 6-5 win over Argenta Oreana, the Bullets had bases loaded and she hit a bases clearing double for the win.

Chance Payne (Mt Pulaski Baseball) The Hilltoppers picked up a big season opening win on Wednesday over North Mac. Payne had success at the plate and on the mound in the game. He went two for three with four runs batted in and one run scored. He also struck out five in 2.1 innings pitched.

Jack Swaney (Rochester Baseball) Sawney started the season swinging for the fences as the Rockets went 4-0 in week one of the season. In three of those games he hit for a .500 average with 10 RBIs and one walk. He hit a grand slam against Normal West and two homers against Joliet West. Highlights of the win over Normal West HERE.

Cody Tobias (Athens Baseball) A big game to start the season for Tobias. In a 3-2 win over Havana it was Tobias who was responsible for bringing in all three runs. He went two for four in the game with three RBIs. He also threw 2.1 innings allowing one hit and striking out three.

Elle Walker (Pleasant Plains Girls Soccer) The Cardinals got the season started playing in the St Teresa Tournament last week. They would win the championship with a 4-0 victory over Mattoon on Saturday where Walker picked up a shutout. She also had a shutout in their opening game, a 5-0 win over Mt Zion. Addison Wheatley (Auburn Softball) The Trojans were co-conference champs of the Sangamo a year ago. They got this season started with a 3-2 walk off win over North Mac on Tuesday. Down one in the bottom of seven it was Wheatley who came up with a single that brought two runners home for the win. Check out the highlights HERE.
