Ava Bobb (Glenwood Girls Basketball) The Glenwood Titans punched their ticket to state with a 45-38 win over Highland at the 3A Highland Super Sectional on Monday night. The lead scorer in that game for Glenwood was the freshman with 13 points. She made buckets when it mattered to help take or extend the lead throughout the game. She also scored six points and had three steals in the state semifinal on Friday while the Titans brought home a second place finish on Saturday. Highlights of the super sectional HERE.
Jenna Bowman (Lincoln Girls Basketball) Bowman was the one of two Railers to score in the double digits in the state semifinal game on Friday to help move Lincoln into the title game. She scored 15 points on five three-pointers in the win going five-for-seven behind the arc. Bowman also went one-for-one from three point range in the title game as the Railers brought home the 3A state title. Semifinal highlights HERE and championship highlights HERE.
Zack Evans (West Central Boys Basketball) The Cougars are playing for a trip to state on Monday after winning the 1A White Hall Sectional on Friday night. Evans continues to lead the way for West Central. He scored 35 in a 66-38 semifinal victory on Tuesday, that included his 2,000th career point. He also scored 33 in the sectional final, including 15 of the teams 18 first quarter points on their way to a 64-61 win. Check out highlights of the semifinal HERE and championship HERE.
Kloe Froebe (Lincoln Girls Basketball) Froebe ended her high school career with a state championship and more records to add to her impressive resume. In the 3A championship game she set a class record for points in a title game with 36. The previous record was 23. She finished her career 5th all time in IHSA history with 3,262 points including 127 points in four state tournament games over two years. She also scored 27 points in the state semifinal and 16 (including her 1,000th of the season) in the super sectional on Tuesday. Becca Heitzig (Lincoln Girls Basketball) Heitzig added another state medal to her collection this weekend as the Lincoln Railers won the 3A state title. Heitzig finished in double figures in the title game with 13 points and picked up five rebounds. She also scored seven and collected nine rebounds in the semifinal victory on Friday. Alexis Neumann (Glenwood Girls Basketball) The Titans brought back at second place finish at the state tournament this weekend. Neumann also came back home as the Titan’s leading scorer across the two games. She had seven points and 10 rebounds in the 46-33 semifinal win on Friday. On Saturday, in the title game, she lead the way with 15 points and eight rebounds for a combined 22 points over the weekend. Highlights of the semifinal HERE and title game HERE.
Brecken Thomas (Williamsville Boys Basketball) The Bullets are sectional champs for the first time in 33 years and are playing in a super sectional on Monday. Thomas picked up the game tying basket and was foul in the process for the three point play opportunity. He would convert on the free throw for the 48-47 lead and eventual win over Alton Marquette at the 2A Beardstown Sectional. Thomas finished the game with 12 points, ten of those points came in the second half. He also had 10 points in the sectional semifinal game on Wednesday.
