Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: April 17-22

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Emma Marcum (Springfield High Softball) We got some extra innings in a Central State Eight vs Sangmao matchup early last week as the Senators traveled to Auburn to play the Trojans. They were tied at three entering the tenth and in that inning Marcum came up with a triple to score the tie breaking run. Springfield went on to pick up the 5-3 win, see the highlights HERE.

Gavin Swartz (Normal UHigh Baseball) The Pioneers picked up the conference series split with Springfield High this week. At Duffy Bass against the Senators, UHigh picked up a 9-4 win. Swartz went 3-3 while driving in four and scoring two runs. Highlight of the win HERE.

Zoe Cormier (Rochester Soccer) Rochester got a big win over Mahomet Seymour on Monday with the 6-1 victory. We’ve seen Cormier on the football kicking a ball and she took those skills to soccer field this week. Her second goal in the victory came on a free kick just inside midfield. Hattie Bond (Williamsville Softball) A good day in the circle for Bond on Tuesday with a complete game shutout of Maroa Forsyth. In her seven innings pitched, Bond allowed four hits while also striking out four. You can see how the Bullets got the 7-0 Sangamo victory HERE.

Griffin Burk (Springfield High Baseball) The Senators hosted the UHigh Pioneers on Tuesday at Robin Roberts Stadium as they picked up a win in game one of the CS8 series. Springfield was led by Burk who threw a complete game shutout while striking out seven. Two of those Ks came after a bases loaded jam with no outs in the top of seven. Springfield wins 2-0 and you can see how they did it HERE.

Jackson Kern (Auburn Track and Field) The Auburn Trojans boys track team won the Rocket Invite on Friday night. Kern picked up first in both of his individual events running a 15.37 in the 110m hurdles and a 39.92 in the 300m hurdles. He was also a part of the winning 4×400 team (3:27.79) and the second place 4×200 team (1:36.17). Rocket Invite highlights HERE.

Trey Carter (Williamsville Baseball) The Bullets got a big Sangamo win in Forsyth on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over the Maroa Forsyth Trojans. Carter led the way at the plate and on the mound. He had two hits and drove in two while throwing 6.2 innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out four. He also had two RBIs in a win over PORTA on Wednesday. Danika Frazier (Olympia Softball) The Spartans took control of the top spot in the Sangamo on Thursday with a win over Auburn to move to 4-0 in conference play. Frazier, a U of I commit, threw a complete game shutout allowing just one hit, one walk and striking out 12. She also had a solo homer in the 2-0 win. See the highlights HERE.

Abigail Wolters (Pleasant Plains Girls Track) The Cardinals took home the girls title at the Rocket Invite in Rochester on Friday. Wolters took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:28.89. She also helped lead the 4×400 team to a victory (4:09.62) and the 4×800 team to a second place finish (10:04.41). Rocket Invite highlights HERE.

Irie Lohrenz (Glenwood Softball) A big game in Chatham on Friday as the Titans hosted the unbeaten Quincy Notre Dame Raiders. Lohrenz threw a complete game shutout while allowing two hits and two walks. She also picked up 13 Ks. You can see how Glenwood got the 5-0 win HERE.

Adam Hernandez (Pawnee Track and Field) Hernandez had a big night in a home meet on Tuesday when he tied a 22 year old school record in the 300 meter hurdles. He ran a 40.5 to tie the record and is also ranked in the top 10 in Class A in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.

Daxton Trueblood (PORTA Track and Field) A good night for Trueblood as he helped lead the Bluejays to a meet victory in Beardstown. He won the 800m (2:11.4) and the 1600m (5:07.0) while recording personal bests in both. He also was the anchor in the winning 4x800m team that ran a 9:40.9.
