Taryn Stoltzenburg (Lincoln Girls Basketball) The Railers are one win away from heading to Redbird Arena after a 53-23 victory over Rochester in the sectional championship. The junior Stoltzenburg scored 13 points in the victory to help push Lincoln to 34-0 this season. They play Highland on Monday at Taylorville in a 3A Super Sectional. Zack Hawkinson (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) The Cyclones are back in a sectional after a regional title win over Southeast. SHG won 56-32 as Hawkinson led the team with 18 points, including three 3s in the first half. He also picked up 9 rebounds. They head to the 3A MacArthur sectional this week starting with a semifinal game against Normal West on Wednesday. Highlights of the regional championship HERE.

Ty Blake (UHigh Boys Basketball) The Pioneers won a regional title on their home court on Friday night with a win over Williamsville. Blake scored a team high 25 points in the victory with 19 in the first half. They will play QND in a sectional semifinal on Tuesday at the 2A Pleasant Plains sectional. Chase Cunningham (MacArthur Boys Basketball) A game winning basket with 2.4 seconds left in overtime of a regional title game is an easy way to earn your place on this list. The Generals picked up the regional championship with a 66-64 win against Mt Zion thanks to Cunningham’s game winning shot. They will play Mahomet Seymour at MacArthur in a sectional semifinal on Tuesday. See that basket and more HERE.

Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) The Saints won their first regional title in over 10 years on Friday night with a 43-37 victory over Routt at the Routt regional. Blackford, a freshman, scored 15 points in the game. His most important baskets came at the end of the game when he went 5 for 6 from the line late in the game to seal the victory. Calvary heads to the Hardin Calhoun on Wednesday to play Madison in a sectional semifinal. See the highlights of the regional victory HERE.

Evan Houser (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) Pleasant Plains will head home for their sectional semifinal game after a regional title victory over PORTA on Friday night. Houser had a game high 15 points in the 40-30 win. He went 4 for 7 from three point range, including three in the second half. The Cardinals take on Bloomington Central Catholic Wednesday in Plains. Alexis Seymour (Jacksonville Wrestling) Seymour had a busy week last week as the Crimsons went to team state for the first time and Seymour competed in the girls state wrestling tournament. She finished fourth at individual state in a 10-6 decision against Monica Griffin of Chicago Bowen. She got a win in the sectional dual to help send Jacksonville to the state duals. Cole Edie (Auburn Wrestling) The Trojans picked up a win over Cahokia on Tuesday to advance to the team state meet. Edie got a pin over Jason Dowell with a fall in 52 seconds. Check out the highlights of Auburn’s sectional win HERE.
