Vaughn Toyne led PORTA to a 12-6 first half lead over Blacktop rival Athens. The Warriors stuck to the ground game early as they looked to Dalton DiGiovanna to carry the load. DiGiovanna would score the third quarter’s only touchdown to tie the score at 12.
Athens struck first in the fourth quarter but PORTA answered with just over a minute remaining to force overtime. In overtime Athens went back to DiGiovanna as he score the touchdown and two point conversion. Vaughn Toyne would find receiver Mickey Hough for the touchdown but the Athens defense would stuff Toyne on the conversion to preseve the 26-24 Blacktop Bragging Rights game win.
