You can add one to the list of classic Glenwood vs. SHG tilts. Saturday's 3A Glenwood Sectional final that saw the Cyclones upend the defending 3A state champs on a Kenzie Trees walk off in extra innings certainly deserves a spot in those archives.

SHG took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Whitney Davide connected on a two out single to score Katie McLean. Glenwood trailed by that score until the top of the sixth when Sami Long shot a seeing eye single through the hole on the left side of the infield to plate Peyton Cole.

Long followed that up with a diving catch, turned double play in the bottom of the sixth to end an SHG scoring chance.

Neither team threatened again until the ninth inning. Whitney David pitched around a Long double in the top half, getting Bri Graham to pop out to end the threat.

In the home half, the Cyclones singled twice to start the inning. Graham answered with two quick pop fly outs to nearly escape the threat. MaKenzie Trees wouldn't let it happen, though. Trees flaired a fly ball into shallow left center that went off the tip of an outreached Parker Bandy glove. Abigail Antonacci, who was off with the two out hit, scored before the all state shortstop could collect the ball and throw it home.

SHG advances to Monday's UIS Supersectional where they'll play Highland at 4:30. The winner will advance to next weekend's 3A state tournament in Peoria.
