Prime Time Performer: January 8 – 13

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Mariah’s Restaurant.

Armon Brummett (MacArthur Guard) The Brummett twins take turns with dunks, highlights and even in Prime Time Performer. This week it’s Armon, who had 33 against the Generals’ cross-town rival Eisenhower on Friday night and then came back with 15 against the Pioneers on Saturday.

Abby Ratsch (Springfield High Forward) Springfield High is still perfect in CS8 play this year and the Senators are steamrolling the competition so far. Junior forward Abby Ratsch was a serious problem for Rochester on both ends of the floor Saturday. She scored a game high 13 points and had multiple blocks, rebounds and even a few Big Nasties.

Carson Reese (New Berlin Guard) The Pretzels are County champs for the first time in 52 years. It took a complete team effort to get it done, especially against undefeated Williamsville in the championship. While Casey Bixby and Max Day earned all tournament team honors, we’re giving the nod to Carson Reese, who hit two huge three-pointers in the third quarter against the Bullets to help them build a lead and has been a steady contributor for Blake Lucas with Hunter Stockton going down.

Will Hanlon (Glenwood Guard) Glenwood picked up two more conference wins last week, beating a tough U-High team on the road and then taking care of business against Jacksonville on Saturday. The three-point threat for the Titans came through against the Pioneers with six three pointers on his way to 20 points to help his team return home to Chatham with a win in Normal.

Brayan Reyes (Lanphier Wrestler) The Lions are City champs on the wrestling mat for the first time since 2015. Senior stud Brayan Reyes is a big reason why. Lanphier’s returning state podium finisher has bumped up to heavyweight and is still dominating his opponents. Watch out for Reyes in the coming weeks, we can’t wait to see him in Champaign again!

Travis Hogan (Riverton Forward) The Hawks pulled off the biggest upset of the Sangamon County tournament…until the championship game happened. Riverton beat Pleasant Plains in the opening round and with only one senior on the roster, it certainly turned some heads. Sophomore Travis Hogan was a force throughout the week on both ends, showing his range behind the arc, scoring inside and affecting shot attempts with his long arms on the defensive end.

Drayton Davis (Athens Guard) We talked about it last week on the Pressbox….Drayton Davis is the go-to guy in the Sangamo this season on the hardwood. He helped his team take home third place at County by doing a little bit of everything along the way. Monday, in the Warriors’ opener…Davis had the game winning steal and bucket against Auburn.

Peyton Boudouris (Rochester Guard) The Rochester girls had quite a week. They came away from the toughest week on their schedule with a 2-1 record, against Lincoln, SHG & Springfield High. The Rockets won in overtime against SHG and needed a buzzer beater to send the Railsplitters home with a loss. Peyton Boudouris knocked down a three ball to seal up the win.
