Early in the second quarter, Paris grabbed an 11-10 lead on Rochester. From then on, the Rockets put on a dominant defensive show. Rochester beat the Tigers in a rout, 57-41 to advance to the 3A MacArthur sectional championship on Thursday.
In that aforementioned second quarter, Rochester closed the frame on a 16-2 run to lead 26-13 heading into halftime. In the third quarter, Rochester allowed just one field goal, which came in the final seconds of the third.
The Rockets held Paris without a field goal for 10-plus minutes, spanning the second and third quarters.
Rochester will play the winner of Effingham – Mattoon in the sectional title game on Thursday.
