Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Avery Braden (Maroa Forsyth Girls Basketball) Maroa Forsyth traveled to Sullivan to take on the host school in a regional championship and picked up the 52-41 victory. Braden was the leading scorer for the Trojans with 22 points while also adding eight rebounds.

Connor Brown (Calvary Boys Basketball) The Saints are MSM Champs! Calvary won the title outright with a 8-0 record on Friday after a 69-47 win over Pawnee. In that win its was Brown leading the way with a 25 points performance.

Adi Fraase (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) Pleasant Plains is heading to a sectional semifinal this week after a 38-34 victory over PORTA in the regional title game. Fraase led the way for the Cardinals in the win with 11 points. She also scored 10 points in the regional semifinal against Athens on Monday night. Kloe Froebe (Lincoln Girls Basketball) The Lincoln Railers are back in a sectional semifinal after a regional title win over Dunlap on Thursday night. Froebe continues to add to her impressive career point total with a 33 points performance in the 64-36 win. She now sits at 7th all time in IHSA history. Carter Hunley (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans are Co-Sangamo Champs! A 48-40 win over Williamsville on Friday secured the share for Auburn with a 7-2 record. The Trojans were led in scoring by Hunley. He scored all of his 16 points in the second half which included four 3s. See some first half highlights of the game versus Williamsville HERE.

Matthew Meyer (Normal UHigh Swimming) Meyer will be representing the Pioneers at state this weekend in two events. At the Pekin sectional, he won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 58.16. He also qualified for the 200 yard individual medley with a second place finish and time of 1:56.39.

Anthony “Joey” Ruzic (Auburn Wrestling) How does three time state champ sound? Ruzic picked up this third state title on Saturday in Champaign at 126 pounds. He won the 1A title match with a 6-1 decision. Highlights of the match HERE.

Cooper Schallenberg (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) The Cardinals are Co-Sangamo Champs! Pleasant Plains secured a share of the title with a 48-38 win on Friday in Athens. They finished with a conference record of 7-2. In the game against Athens, Schallenberg scored a game high 17 points and went 9 for 10 at the free thrown line in the second half. Xavier Try (Glenwood Swimming) The Titans have a swimmer heading to state this weekend. Try qualified in the 50 yard freestyle with a 3rd place finish and a time of 21.71 at the Edwardsville sectional.

Wills Wang (Maroa Forsyth Swimming) Maroa Forsyth is sending a swimmer to state. Wang advances with a first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 59.65 seconds, which was 11 hundredths of a second in front of the second place finisher.

Bentley Wise (Olympia Wrestling) The Spartans have a state champ for the first time in 23 years. Wise picked up a 5-3 decision in the 1A 150 pound title match. That made him the first Spartan to win a wrestling state title since his head coach, Josh Collins, in 2001. Highlights of the championship match HERE.

Amir Womack (Southeast Diving) The Spartan senior is heading to state! At the Champaign Centennial sectional on Saturday, Womack won the 1 meter diving event with a score of 398.65 to secure his spot at state this weekend.

Makenna Yeager (Glenwood Girls Basketball) Glenwood won a regional championship on Friday at Southeast with a 41-39 win over Taylorville. The win came thanks to a game winning layup from Yeager in the final seconds. She also added seven points for the Titans in a semifinal win on Tuesday. Check out that basket and more HERE.
