The UIS women’s track and field team competed Friday and Saturday at Indiana State’s Gibson Invitational, highlighted by a strong showing in Friday night’s 5000 meters.
Josslyn Gaona led the Prairie Stars in the event, finishing 21st overall with a time of 18:56.10. Lauren McBride (20:01.77), Allison Thompson (20:09.21), and Olivia Thomsen (20:19.20) followed in a pack, while Ava Allison rounded out the group (22:56.78).
With one weekend remaining in the regular season, the GLVC qualifying mark in the 5K is trending around 18:30.
On Saturday, Kali Gaden posted a season-best time of 2:26.41 for 18th place in the 800 meters. In the 1500 meters, Audrey Wagoner recorded a personal-best 5:32.09.
Additional performances included Mackenzie Billard in the 400 meters (1:34.56), Shaylin Ward in the 100 meters (16.18), and Addelyne Nehmelman, who notched a personal best of 18.49.
