UIS men’s and women’s track each featured a pair of 5K runners at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific on Friday. The meet was highlighted by another program record from Madelyn Miller-Ross.

In the morning session of the men’s 5K, Matt Padilla ran a personal-best 14:43.66 to place ninth in his heat. Joey Karlesky followed in the next section, finishing in 14:52.28.

On the women’s side, Marissa Roggensack recorded a season-best 18:27.38 in the early session of the women’s 5K.

Later in the evening, Madelyn Miller-Ross competed in the invitational section of the women’s 5K, placing sixth in 16:19.76 to set a new UIS program record. The mark ranks No. 8 in NCAA Division II this season and positions her well for national qualification.

UIS turned in strong distance performances at one of the nation’s most prestigious outdoor meets. Additional Prairie Stars are competing at Indiana State’s Gibson Invitational on Saturday.
