Aubrey Balota (Normal U-High Girls Soccer) A big moment for this U-High senior on Thursday as the Pioneers picked up a conference win over Lincoln. Balota earned her 100th career goal in the victory.
Will Coady (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones came out on top in a matchup with Jacksonville Routt on Friday as Coady led the way on the mound. Coady threw a complete game allowing one hit and one earned run. He also struck out seven as SHG picked up the 6-1 victory. Check out the highlights HERE.
Reid Hepperly (New Berlin Baseball) The Pretzels started the week with a victory over Pawnee on Monday. Hepperly went 2-for-4 in the win with two RBIs, one walk and one run scored. Hepperly was also the winning pitcher with four innings pitched, no runs allowed and seven strikeouts. See the highlights HERE.
Jemma Lamb (Glenwood Softball) The Titans made a trip north over the weekend to take on Marist and Lincoln Way Central. The freshman had a big game on Saturday as she went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and two runs scored. Glenwood would win that game 15-5 over Lincoln Way. She also picked up a hit in the loss to 4A No. 1 Marist on Friday. Highlights of the win on Saturday HERE.
Gunnar Larner (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) A walk-off is an exciting way to end a conference matchup and it was Larner who delivered for the Trojans last week. The sophomore come up with a bases loaded single in the bottom of seven for the 3-2 Sangamo victory over Athens. That was Larner’s lone hit of the game.
Bailey Leach (Pleasant Plains Girls Soccer) This Pleasant Plains senior put her name in the record books last week. Leach scored three goals in a win over Riverton on Wednesday which moved her into first place for all time goals scored for the Cardinals. Leach broke the previous record of 130 which was set by Brooklyn Blackwell in 2018. Highlights of the record breaking moment HERE.
Hannah Louis (Williamsville Softball) The Bullets picked up three victories last week and Louis had two big games. In two starts last week Louis went 6-for-7 at the plate with three home runs. She drove in a total of 13 runs in the two games and scored five times. Louis also gave up just one run and struck out 12 in the circle against Midwest Central.
Addi Maddox (Springfield High Girls Soccer) The Senators remain unbeaten in conference play and are now 8-1 this season following a win over Sacred Heart Griffin last week. In that 7-0 victory it was Maddox who helped lead the way with four first half goals. Highlights HERE.
Luke Martin (Mt Pulaski Baseball) Another great pitching performance from last week was Martin as the Hilltoppers picked up a 10-0 win over North Mac. Martin threw five innings in the run rule game allowing one hit, one walk and striking out ten. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Wade Naylor (Lutheran High Baseball) The Crusaders are 7-1 so far this season and it was Naylor who had a big week for LuHi. In a win over Tri-City on Thursday Naylor drove in four runs on two hits which included a three-run homer. He finished the week 5-for-8 with six runs scored, 11 RBIs, two homers and two doubles. Ajay Runkel (Rochester Baseball) Rochester picked up a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart Griffin last week and Runkel helped lead the way. The senior threw a complete game allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out five. He also hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockets the 3-2 advantage. Jaelyn Watts (Rochester Softball) Another career achievement on the list this week but this time its for the Rochester senior. Watts started the game on Wednesday just two strikeouts away from 500 career Ks and finished the game with 12 for the achievement. Earlier in the week Watts struck out nine in a 13-1 Rockets win over Tolono Unity. Highlights of that victory HERE.
