Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: February 23-28

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Dublin Pub.

Gift cards will be mailed to the school office at the end of each month.

Luke Alexander (North Mac Boys Basketball) The Panthers won a double overtime game against PORTA on Wednesday in a regional semifinal and it was Alexander helping lead the way in the 53-48 victory. The sophomore scored seven points in OT including five-for-six at the free throw line. He finished the game with 17 points and you can see the highlights HERE.

Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) This Calvary senior ended his high school career by leaving his name in the record books. Blackford scored 38 in a regional semifinal win on Wednesday to make him the all time leading scorer in Calvary and City history. He also finished 9th in IHSA history with 2,961 points in his career. Troy DeFrates (Jacksonville Boys Basketball) The Crimsons brought home the Jerseyville regional title last week with a 45-26 win over Civic Memorial. DeFrates was the leading scorer in the victory with 21 points. Jacksonville heads to the Waterloo sectional on Wednesday.

Brody Folkes (Illini Central Boys Basketball) This senior ended his career at Illini Central in the school record books. Folkes finished his career with 1,500 points which puts him second all-time in the Cougars’ book.

Khordell Gregory (Rochester Boys Basketball) The Rochester sophomore had two big game in the Williamsville regional last week. He started off with 18 points in the semifinal against Riverton and finished the week with 14 points against the hosts Bullets as the Rockets earned the 50-41 victory. It wasn’t just Gregory’s scoring that helped lead Rochester to a regional title, his defense helped lead to multiple steals and Rocket points. Highlights of the regional championship win HERE.

Cameron Johnson (Normal UHigh Boys Basketball) The Pioneers will head to the Mahomet Seymour sectional this week following a regional title victory against Champaign Central on Friday. Johnson scored 26 in the 58-54 win. Highlights HERE.

Andrew Kotner (Springfield High Swimming) This Senator made a trip to state over the weekend. Kotner qualified for state with a second place finish at the Edwardsville regional last week. He finished 26th at the state meet with a score of 432.3.

Alyson Murphy (Mt Pulaski Girls Basketball) The Hilltoppers are heading a super sectional on Monday following a 37-36 win over Cumberland in the sectional final. Murphy was the leading scorer with 18 points. Highlights of the win HERE.

Alexis Neumann (Glenwood Girls Basketball) The Titans are back in a 3A super sectional for the second time in three years. Neumann led Glenwood with 25 points in a 51-36 win over QND in the sectional title. That 25 points included a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line. See the highlights of the win HERE.

Elijah Wade (Springfield High Boys Basketball) Springfield High won their first boys basketball regional title since 1999 on Friday night with a 32-26 win over Lincoln. Wade helped lead the way for the Senators in the low scoring affair with 13 points which included a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. See highlights of the victory HERE.

Anna Weber (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) The Pleasant Plains Cardinal will play in a super sectional on their home floor following a 57-23 win over Father McGivney in the sectional final. The senior led the way in both the title win with 18 points and the semifinal win with 14 points. See highlights of the sectional championship victory HERE.

AJ Williams (Glenwood Wrestling) Glenwood’s wrestling season came to a close over the weekend with a fourth place finish at team state. Williams was one of the wrestlers to pick up multiple wins in their three dual matches. He earned a tech fall by a score of 15-0 in just 1:11 in the quarterfinal then picked up a fall in the third place matchup in 55 seconds. Check out highlights of the Titans semifinal dual HERE.

Journee Wilson (MacArthur Girls Basketball) For the first time in school history the MacArthur girls basketball team will be playing for a trip to state. The Generals earned a trip to the Glenwood Super Sectional with a 38-32 win over Lincoln. Wilson was the leading scorer in that game with 11 points and you can see highlights of the win HERE.
