Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: February 16-21

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Dublin Pub.

Gift cards will be mailed to the school office at the end of each month.

Jacob Barth (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans wrapped up the regular season with a win over Williamsville on Friday night. Down one in the final seconds of the game it was Barth with a jumper at the buzzer that gave Auburn the 35-34 victory.

Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) A big 24 hours for Blackford this weekend as he scored a combined 93 points. The senior got things started on Friday with a 42 point performance in an overtime win against Pawnee. He followed that up with a 51 points performance against Danville on Saturday. That puts Blackford just 33 points away from the school record and a place in the top 10 all time in Illinois history. Highlights from the win on Friday HERE.

Bryce Bryant (Springfield High Wrestling) The Senator brought home the best finish for Springfield High at the state finals in the last six years. After battling back in the blood rounds he took fifth place with a 14-2 major decision. Check out that win HERE.

Cooper Clarke (Glenwood Wrestling) A great performance by the sophomore at the state finals over the weekend. Clarke earned a runner up finish at 106 pounds falling by just three points. He had a dominate showing in the semifinal with a 8-1 decision and also won his first round match with a pin. Highlights of the semifinal win HERE.

Connor Collins (Olympia Wrestling) Olympia has a state champion! The freshman won the 1A state title at 106 pounds on Saturday with a 7-3 decision. Collins won all his other matches in the state finals by fall with his semifinal win coming with a pin at 1:11. Highlights of the title match HERE.

Lily Holmes (Lincoln Girls Basketball) Lincoln won a regional on their home court last Thursday with a 50-39 victory over Mt Zion. The senior had 12 points in the title game and scored a go ahead basket in the third on their way to the victory. The Railers will compete in the Normal West sectional this week.

Cole Ishmel (Athens Boys Basketball) Athens earned a win over Pleasant Plains on Friday night to wrap up the regular season. It was a buzzer beater that gave the Warriors the 50-47 victory as Ishmel made a three at the end of regulation.

Jett Karrick (PORTA Boys Basketball) The PORTA Bluejays secured the outright Sangamo title on Tuesday with a 13 point comeback against Auburn. The senior scored 14 points in the win including his 1,000th career point. Highlights of the win HERE.

Caebrin Lee (Maroa Forysth Boys Basketball) The Trojans wrapped up the conference schedule on Friday with a 69-58 win over New Berlin. The junior helped lead Maroa with 32 points in the victory including his 1,000th point.

MacKenzie Matejka (Normal UHigh Girls Basketball) Normal U-High won their first regional game in four years with a semifinal win on Tuesday. In that victory Matejka picked up her 500th career rebound as she pulled in nine during the win. U-High would then earn a 59-45 win over Clinton for the regional title which sends them to the Macomb sectional this week.

Lexi Meyer (MacArthur Girls Basketball) MacArthur earned a regional title on their home floor on Friday with a 71-51 victory over Taylorville. The Generals were led in scoring by Meyer with 23 points. Her scoring was divided equally between halves with 11 in the first and 12 in the second. Highlights of the title game HERE.

Coyt Rademaker (PORTA Wrestling) Another sophomore with a great showing in Champaign over the weekend as the Bluejay took home a fifth place finish. Rademaker grinded through wrestle backs against Vandalia and Coal City and missed wrestling for third by just one point. Highlights of the fifth place 4-1 win HERE.

Isaac Rennecker (PORTA Track & Field) A big day for the senior at The Circuit Chicago meet over the weekend. Rennecker won the high jump with a jump of 6 foot, 6 inches which ties his own school record. He also set a new school record in triple jump with a jump of 46 feet, 6 inches and brought home a first place finish.

Allison Vogel (PORTA Girls Basketball) The Bluejays won the Farmington regional last week with a 46-32 victory over Macomb. PORTA was led in scoring that night by Vogel with 18 points. The Bluejays will travel to the Macomb sectional this week.

Franklin Wade (Mt Pulaski Boys Basketball) A career milestone for the senior last week on his home floor. Wade earned his 1,000th career point as the Hilltoppers picked up a win over Cerro Gordo on Wednesday.
