Zach Bryant (PORTA Wrestling) The Bluejays had a busy two days at the Abe’s Rumble as they earned a team finish of 8th. Bryant helped lead the way for PORTA with a 7-1 record during the tournament. Check out some highlight from the Bluejays HERE.
TiShawn Clemmons (MacArthur Boys Basketball) The unbeaten MacArthur Generals kept the season rolling with a 61-32 win over Mt Vernon for the Collinsville Holiday Tournament title. Clemmons was one of the Generals all tournament selections as he finished the championship game with 11 points, six assists, four steals and a block. Check out the highlights HERE.
Kaden Collins (Olympia Wrestling) Olympia earned a 6th place finish at the Abe’s Rumble early last week. Collins was one of the wrestler who helped lead the way with a 9-0 recored as he competed at 157 pounds for the Spartans. See some highlight from Olympia HERE.
Troy DeFrates (Jacksonville Boys Basketball) The Crimsons won the Taylorville Holiday Tournament last week as they went 3-0 in pool play and picked up a running clock win over Glenbard South in the title game. DeFrates was named to the all-tournament team and averaged 12.5 points per game throughout the tournament. Title game highlights HERE.
Collin Etter (North Mac Boys Basketball) North Mac won the Waverly Holiday Tournamant last week with a 52-40 win over previously unbeaten Routt. Etter helped lead the Panthers throughout the tournament with an average of 15 points per game. He scored 15 in the title game and was named to the all-tournament team. Drayven Hamm (Auburn Wrestling) This Trojan came out of the Abe’s Rumble with an 8-0 record as Auburn competed at the dual tournament last week. Six of those victories came on pins which happened in under two minutes
Casen Lyons (Sacred Heart Griffin Wrestling) Lyons is off to a great start this season with a 25-1 record and finished 5-0 at the Abe’s Rumble early last week. Those five wins included his 100th career victory thanks to a pin against an opponent from Hillsboro.
Bryson Mossman (Routt Boys Basketball) Routt picked up a second place finish at the Waverly Holiday Tournament last week as Mossman was named the Bill Pool Tournament MVP. The senior finished the tournament with a 17 point average and a game high 26 points in the semifinal. Highlights of that semifinal HERE.
Alyson Murphy (Mt Pulaski Girls Basketball) The Hilltoppers won the Riverton Christmas Classic title last week and are now 14-0. Murphy was named tournament MVP as Mt Pulaski picked up the 48-34 title win over Roanoke Benson. See highlights from that title win HERE.
Julian Rice (Riverton Boys Basketball) Rice is back on the list this week as the Hawks won their third straight St Teresa Christmas Tournament title with a 62-60 victory over Maroa Forsyth. Rice won tournament MVP and had 33 points in the title game including 25 in the second half. He also hit a three pointer in the final minute to give Riverton the lead. Bailey Wherley (Williamsville Girls Basketball) The Bullets brought home a holiday tournament title from Carlinville last week with a 50-47 overtime victory against Nokomis. Wherley was one of three Bullets named to the all-tournament team. She had several blocks in the title game including one in overtime that stopped a potential game tying three pointer. She also had a double double in the semifinal game against Gillespie. Highlight from the title game HERE.
