Liam Bettis (Taylorville Boys Cross Country) A big win for the Tornadoes on Saturday at the 2A Taylorville Regional. The Tornadoes won their first regional title in program history with four runners in the top 15. Bettis helped lead the way with a second place finish and a time of 14:38.03.
Makenzie Doe (Glenwood Boys Soccer) The Glenwood Titans are onto a sectional semifinal following a 4-1 win over Springfield High to win the 2A Jerseyville Regional. In the title game it was Doe who led the way in scoring with two goals. Highlights of the all CS8 regional title game HERE.
Klaire Eighner (Maroa Forsyth Girls Cross Country) The Maroa Forsyth senior earned another win this season at the 1A PORTA Regional on Saturday. The recent Michigan State commit picked up the individual victory with a time of 17:03.58.
James Harter (Williamsville Boys Soccer) The Williamsville Bullets are heading back to a sectional semifinal following a 7-0 win over Meridian on Saturday. Harter scored the lone goal in the first half to give Williamsville a 1-0 lead at the break then scored again in the second half. Terrion Jackson (Jacksonville Football) The Crimsons punched their ticket into the playoffs on Friday with a win over Lincoln. Jackson scored twice in the victory with two rushing touchdowns and he finished the night with 129 rushing yards. Some highlights of the playoff clinching win HERE.
Ali Londrigan (Glenwood Girls Cross Country) The Glenwood Titans won their third straight regional title as Londrigan picked up the individual victory on Saturday at the 2A Taylorville Regional. The junior finished with a time of 17:03.1. Glenwood finished the race with five runners in the top 11 with the top three finishers all being Titans. Check out some highlights HERE.
Reid Loy (Rochester Boys Soccer) The Rockets won a 1A regional on their home field on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Salem. The senior goalkeeper came up big in the first half with a couple saves to keep the game scoreless. He would then take a penalty kick for the Titans late in the game to cap off the 4-0 victory. Connor Mabus (Athens Boys Soccer) The Athens Warriors are regional champions for the first time in program history. The Warriors won the 1A Monticello Regional with a 3-2 overtime win against Pleasant Plains. Mabus scored a goal in the first half to help give Athens a 2-0 lead at the break. After the Cardinals forced overtime it was Mabus with his second goal of the game with seven seconds left in the first OT. That would be the game winning goal as Athens defense held Pleasant Plains in the second OT for the 3-2 victory.
Griffin Meyer (Normal U-High Football) The U-High Pioneers clinched their spot in the postseason on Friday night with a win over Lanphier. The senior quarterback threw for 201 yards and four touchdowns in the victory to help lead the Pioneers back to the playoffs.
Alexis & Katherine Nilles (Maroa Forsyth Girls Tennis) The Nilles sisters punched their ticket to state at the Mt Zion sectional last week as they won a doubles sectional title. The Maroa Forsyth doubles team beat Springfield High’s Anvi Agarwal and Asmi Agarwal 6-0, 6-0 for the title. Katherine and Alexis competed at state this past weekend and finished with a 3-2 tournament record.
Chloe Scheffler (Springfield High Girls Swimming) The Springfield High Senators won the 2025 City meet on Tuesday evening at Eisenhower Pool. Scheffler helped led the way with two individual and two relay victories that night. The sophomore won the 200 yard freestyle (2:27.31) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:07.40). She was also a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:56.52) and 400 freestyle relay (4:16.29). Highlights from the City meet HERE.
Kendall Stotlar (Sacred Heart Griffin Volleyball) The Cyclones earned a two set victory over the Williamsville Bullets on Thursday. In that win Stotlar achieved a career milestone by picking up her 500th career kill with seven kills in the match. Check out the career milestone and highlights of the win HERE.
Ellie Surges (Glenwood Girls Tennis) Surges followed up her singles CS8 title with a sectional title a week later with a 6-1, 6-7(2), 6-1 victory over Ellie Sandgren of Maroa Forsyth. That win helped to lead the Titans to a sectional title as well. This past weekend Surges traveled north to compete at state and finished with a 2-2 record in the tournament.
Kylie Sullens (Glenwood Girls Swimming) The Glenwood Titans won their third straight Central State Eight conference title on Saturday at Eisenhower Pool. The Titan’s junior had a busy day with two individual and two relay victories. Sullens won the 200 IM (2:15.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.62). She was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:03.02) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:58.07). See highlights of the CS8 meet HERE.
