Chase Campbell (Glenwood Boys Soccer) Campbell got out to a hot start this season with a hat trick against Pleasant Plains on Monday. The senior also recorded an assist in the victory. Gradyn Hartlaub (Riverton Football) The Hawks returned to varsity football in a big way with a 29-20 win over Pittsfield on Friday night. The junior quarterback completed 17 of 22 passes for 187 yards while rushing for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Highlights of Riverton’s victory HERE.
Blake Lehnen (Glenwood Football) Glenwood made the trip down to Edwardsville on Friday and picked up a 39-31 win. Lehnen had a big game with 14 catches for 198 yards and two first half touchdowns. Highlights of the Titan’s victory HERE.
Maryn Linderman (Sacred Heart Griffin Volleyball) The Cyclones started the season with three wins last weeks. In a win over PORTA on Thursday Linderman served seven straight points. She finished the night with six aces and 11 digs as the Cyclones won 25-14, 25-15. See the highlights HERE.
Jaxen Maubach (Normal U-High Boys Soccer) Last year’s 1A state champs started out the season with a 2-1 record including a CS8 win over Rochester. Maubach scored in the 14th minute of the game with a header off a corner kick. That goal would be all they needed for the 1-0 victory. You can see highlights HERE.
Alexis Neumann (Glenwood Volleyball) Glenwood won the Crusader Classic this weekend and Neumann was named Tournament MVP. The Titans won five games on their way to the tournament victory and in the title game against Springfield High Neumann picked up 14 kills. Check out highlights of that game HERE.
Camarie Richmond (Lanphier Football) The Lions snapped a 20 game losing streak on Friday night with an 18-14 win over Lincoln. Richmond scored the game winning touchdown with 2:24 left on a one yard run. He also scored a 38 yard touchdown in the second quarter and finished with 104 rushing yards on 15 attempts.
Xander Smith (Pleasant Plains Football) Grant’s Saber returned to Pleasant Plains on Friday following the Cardinals 26-20 win over New Berlin. Smith helped lead the way with two passing and two rushing touchdowns in the victory. The senior threw for 195 yards while rushing for another 49 yards. Nate Swaney (Rochester Football) The Rockets celebrated 30 years of Rochester football on Saturday with a 42-21 win over Gibson Southern on Saturday. Swaney made big plays on both sides of the ball in the victory. The junior had six catches for 76 yards and a touchdown while also coming up with an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Kale Thurman (Springfield High Football) The Senators started the season with a 51-41 victory over Champaign Central on Thursday night. The senior wide receiver brought in ten receptions for a total of 148 yards and four touchdowns. You can check out the highlights HERE.
Garrett Timm (Williamsville Boys Soccer) The Bullet’s senior keeper started the season by setting a new school record. A 4-0 win over Lincoln in game one of the year was Timm’s 32nd career shutout which set the Williamsville record. A few days later Timm had 11 saves in a 0-0 tie against Rochester. Alayna Vincent (Taylorville Volleyball) Taylorville earned a three set victory over Rochester on Monday night and Vincent helped lead the way. The senior tallied 11 kills in the win along with two aces and nine digs. Highlights of the season opening win HERE.
