Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: May 26-31

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Dublin Pub.

Gift cards will be mailed to the school office at the end of each month.

Auburn Trojans 4×400 (Boys Track & Field) The Trojans 4×400 relay team took home a state championship on Saturday from Eastern. The team of Hunter Piper, James Baisden, Carter Hunley and Jacob Barth picked up a win as Barth made a pass on the final lap for the victory in 3:22.05. Cameron Appenzeller (Glenwood Baseball) The Titans won a regional title on Saturday behind a complete game shutout from Appenzeller. The senior allowed just two hits in seven innings with no runs allowed and 14 strikeouts. He also collected a hit at the plate. Highlights of the Titans 4-0 win HERE.

Ava Bobb (Glenwood Softball) Glenwood will play in their own sectional this week following a 9-2 regional championship victory over Mattoon on Friday night. Bobb went 2-4 in the victory and drove in three runs. Those RBIs came on an single and a double. Highlights of the Titans win HERE.

Coy Clarke (Pawnee Baseball) The Indians are one win away from state! Pawnee won a sectional title on Saturday with a walk off win over Casey Westfield in the eighth inning. Clarke had an RBI single to tie the game at three in the eighth. He also threw seven innings allowing four hits and no runs while striking out eight in the sectional semifinal earlier in the week. Mikey Groesch (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones head to Lincoln Land for a super sectional game on Monday looking to punch their ticket to state. SHG won the Pleasant Plains sectional on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the hosts. Groesch had a hit and scored a run in that win while collecting an RBI in the semifinal on Wednesday. Ainsley Lambert (Springfield High Girls Soccer) Springfield High will play for a trip to state on Tuesday following a 2-0 win over Pleasant Plains in a sectional final on Friday. Lambert has been important to the Senators defense all season long and helped keep the Cardinals off the board in the win. Highlights of the Springfield High victory HERE.

Ella Plumb (Williamsville Girls Soccer) The Bullets are heading back to state later this week after a super sectional victory over Rock Island Alleman on Saturday. Williamsville scored two goal in under a minute on their way to the 2-1 victory. Plumb scored the game tying goal then 40 seconds later she had an assist on the game winning goal. Peyton Purves (Rochester Softball) Rochester won the 3A Jacksonville regional on Friday with a 3-0 victory over Jersey. Purves went 2-3 as she drove in two runs and scored a run. Her hits included a triple in the second inning and a single in the sixth which added on two insurance runs for the Rockets. Rochester heads to the Glenwood sectional this week.

Addison Wheatley (Auburn Softball) Wheatley continues with great hitting in the postseason as the Trojans won a sectional title on Friday. Wheatley went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the 10-3 championship win over Williamsville. Her hits included a solo home run. She also hit a two-run homer in the sectional semifinal on Wednesday against Olympia. Highlights of the sectional title game HERE and the semifinal game HERE.
