Jacob Barth (Auburn Boys Track & Field) The Trojans won the boys Sangamo Indoor title on Monday in Williamsville. Barth was a part of three wins with an individual victory in the 400 meter (52.22 seconds). He also ran on the winning 4×200 relay (1:35.77) and the winning 4×400 relay (3:34.07). At Top Times on Friday, Barth helped Auburn win the 1A 4×400 with a time of 3:30.13 while also picking up a fifth place finish in the 400 meter and third place finish in the 4×200.
Cooper Carter (Auburn Baseball) From the basketball court to the pitching mound, Carter threw a no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Gillespie on Tuesday. The senior allowed no hits and no runs while striking out eleven in seven innings pitched. Carter also picked up a hit at the plate in the victory.
Zoe Carter (Normal U-High Girls Track & Field) Carter took home a first place finish in the 2A 3200 from the Top Times meet on Saturday. She took the victory with a time of 10:47.56 and also finished fourth in the 1600.
Connell Doolin (Maroa Forsyth Boys Track & Field) A busy week for Doolin as he picked up two wins in the 200m. The first win over the week came at the Sangamo Indoor meet with a time of 23.17 seconds while the second win of the week came at the Illinois Top Times meet. He won the 1A 200m race with a time of 22.60 seconds. Highlights of the Sangamo meet HERE.
Kendall Edmonson (Rochester Softball) The Rockets picked up three wins last week to move to 4-0 this season. Edmonson had a good week going 7 for 11 at the plate with seven runs batted in and five runs. Those seven hits included two doubles and two home runs.
Kamryn Hoffman (Springfield High Girls Soccer) The Senators picked up a big Central State Eight win over Glenwood on Tuesday. Hoffman got Springfield High on the board early then scored again later for two goals in the 5-2 victory. You can see highlights of the CS8 win HERE.
Dylan Huff (Glenwood Baseball) Glenwood went 1-1 last week with a non-conference win over Springfield High and a loss to Triad. Huff continued the hot hitting with homers in the first inning of both games. One was a two-run home run with the other being a three-run homer for a total of five runs batted in over the two games. Drew Green (Pleasant Plains Baseball) Back on the list this week thanks to a walk-off hit against Quincy Notre Dame on Tuesday. Tied at eight in extra innings, the Cardinals had bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the inning. Green came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to give Plains the 9-8 win over the Raiders. Reese Larson (Williamsville Softball) Williamsville is out to a 3-0 start with all three wins coming last week. Larson was one of the Bullets who helped lead the way. She hit for a .636 average in those games with seven hits, seven runs and seven RBIs. Her best performance came against Lincoln as she went 4 for 5 with seven RBIs including a double and a home run.
Isaac Rennecker (PORTA Boys Track & Field) Rennecker won at the Top Times meet over the weekend and started off the week with two wins at the Sangamo Indoor meet. Rennecker took first in high jump (1.77m) and triple jump (13.58m) at Williamsville on Monday. He also finished first in the 1A triple jump at Top Time with a jump of 13.39 meters. Kenzie Wieland (Sacred Heart Griffin Softball) The Cyclones grabbed two wins last week as Wieland led the way in the circle. She struck out 29 in 15 innings pitched and earned both wins. Offensively she went 4 for 7 with a home run, two doubles and two stolen bases in the two games.
Cecilia Wille (Normal U-High Girls Soccer) The Pioneers came back for a 2-1 Central State Eight win over Rochester on Thursday. Wille scored on a free kick with 19 to play to give U-High the one goal lead. See highlights of the win HERE.
Abigail Wolters (Pleasant Plains Girls Track & Field) The Pleasant Plains girls took home the team title from the Sangamo Indoor meet on Monday. Wolters picked up one individual and one relay win. Her individual victory came in the 400 meter with a time of 1:01.12 with the relay win coming in the 4×400 (4:14.01). Wolters also helped Pleasant Plains win the 1A 4×400 at Top Times with a time of 4:08.17 and finish second in the 4×800.
Zion Young (Maroa Forsyth Girls Track & Field) Two wins for Young last week in shot put. At the Sangamo Indoor meet she picked up first place with a throw of 12.26 meters. On Friday she won the 1A shot put at Top Times with a throw of 12.46 meters.
