Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: January 13-18

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Dublin Pub.

Gift cards will be mailed to the school office at the end of each month.

Carson Arthalony (PORTA Girls Basketball) The Lady Jays are one of three Sangamo teams without a conference loss this season as PORTA picked up a close win over Maroa Forsyth on Monday and a win over Riverton on Thursday. Arthalony led the way in both games with 16 points against Maroa and another 16 points against Riverton. Highlights of the win over Maroa Forsyth HERE.

Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) A big week for Blackford as he helped lead the Saints to the consolation championship at the Sangamon County Tournament. He was named to the all-tournament team and tallied 100 points through the four games played. He scored 33 in a win over Lutheran on Monday then added 22 points in a loss to Auburn. Conner Carroll (Rochester Wrestling) Rochester traveled to Normal U-High over the weekend and picked up a second place finish at the U-High Invite. Carroll won the 113 pound bracket with three wins including two pins. He also picked up his 100th career victory during the tournament.

Mazie Fleming (Taylorville Girls Basketball) The Tornadoes hosted Effingham on Tuesday and the Taylorville senior hit a career milestone. Fleming scored her thousandth career point in the 55-41 Apollo win.

Khorbin Gregory (Rochester Boys Basketball) The Rockets picked up a big CS8 victory on Friday night with a 67-66 overtime win against Sacred Heart Griffin. It was a free throw from Gregory with 0.8 seconds left on the clock that gave Rochester the win.

Grady Grisham (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) Pleasant Plains started the Sangamon County Tournament with a big win over New Berlin on Tuesday night. Grisham led the way for the Cardinals in that win with 14 of his game high 23 points coming in the first half. He also scored a team high 13 points in the third place game against Riverton and was named to the all-tournament team. See highlights of the Cardinals win over New Berlin HERE.

Kyleigh Heimsness (Taylorville Girls Basketball) A big week for the Taylorville senior last week. On Wednesday Heimsness celebrated her college signing to play basketball at Millikin next year. Then on Friday night as the Tornadoes picked up a win over Charleston Heimsness scored her thousandth career point.

Jonathan Helm (Glenwood Boys Basketball) Glenwood picked up a big Central State Eight win on Friday as the Titans handed MacArthur their first conference loss of the season. Helm led the way in the victory with 15 points. Check out highlights of the Titans’ CS8 win HERE.

Clayton Kessler (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans are back-to-back Sangamon County Champs! Auburn picked up the 32-29 win over Williamsville for their second title in two years. Kessler led the way in the title game with a double double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also scored 17 points in a win over Calvary on Tuesday. Bailey Leach (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) Pleasant Plains hosted Pittsfield on Tuesday night in a big matchup. The Saukees came into the game ranked ninth in 2A but it was the Cardinals who picked up the 63-34 victory. Leach came up with some timely baskets throughout the game and helped create scoring opportunities for her teammates. See highlights of the running clock win HERE.

Julian Rice (Riverton Boys Basketball) Riverton finish third in the Sangamon County Tournament last week with a 42-38 win over Pleasant Plains in the third place game. Rice had a game high 19 points in that victory. He also scored 19 points in a semifinal matchup against Auburn and 19 against Athens. Rice was named to the all-tournament team. Blake Shoufler (Williamsville Boys Basketball) The Williamsville Bullets took home a second place finish in the Sangamon County Tournament last week. Shoufler was named to the all-tournament team and scored a team high 17 points against Tri-City and another team high 20 points against Pleasant Plains in the semifinal. Cody Stevens (Springfield Wrestling) The Senators are City Champs after going 3-0 in the City meet on Friday at Southeast. Stevens picked up three individual victories that night with two pins and one 4-2 decision. Check out highlights of City Wrestling HERE.

John Vallar (Glenwood Wrestling) The Titans traveled to Normal U-High on Thursday night and picked up CS8 wins over the Pioneers and Lincoln Railers.
