Ava Bobb (Glenwood Girls Basketball) The Titans’ defense stepped up in the second half against Sacred Heart Griffin to help lead Glenwood to a 35-30 win. In the final seven seconds of the game Bobb came up with a steal then made two free throws to help seal the Titan victory. The sophomore finished the night with 11 points. Avery Braden (Maroa Forsyth Girls Basketball) The Trojans junior had a big week as Maroa Forsyth improved to 12-1 with three wins. On Tuesday they won the Meridian Holiday Tournament with a victory over Leroy and Braden scored 20 points. In a win over Riverton on Thursday, Braden scored a career high 35 points and picked up her 1,000th career point. She then scored 25 in a win over Warrensburg Latham on Friday night. Cam Brinkman (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) The Cyclones traveled to Chatham on Saturday afternoon and picked up a big win. Sacred Heart Griffin was led in the 59-55 win by the sophomore with 19 points. Highlights of the victory HERE.
Miles Carroll (Rochester Wrestling) The Rockets traveled to the Unity Invitational on Saturday and finished fourth as a team. Carroll was one of the two Rochester champs as he won the 120lb bracket. Carroll is currently 13-1 this season and picked up a fall at 4:56 in the title match for the win.
Carson Dodd (New Berlin Boys Basketball) New Berlin hosted Nokomis on Friday night and picked up a 37-26 victory. The three ball helped lead the Pretzels in the win as Dodd made five three-pointers for a team high 15 points. See highlights of the win HERE.
Brody Folkes (Illini Central Boys Basketball) The Cougars picked up two wins last week before they head to Williamsville to compete in the Holiday Tournament after Christmas. In those two wins Folkes totaled 60 points. He scored 27 in a win over Greenview with five three-pointers. He also scored 33 in a win over Midwest Central with seven three-pointers.
Taylor Keirs (North Mac Girls Basketball) The Panthers picked up a 35-34 win over Pawnee on Thursday as Keirs led the way in the fourth. Keirs scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead a comeback and in the process scored her 1,000th career point. She finished the night with 18 points and became the 4th member of the North Mac thousand point club.
Blake Shoufler (Williamsville Boys Basketball) The Bullets remain unbeaten going into the Williamsville Holiday Tournament this week after wins over BCC, Tri-City and El Paso Gridley last week. In a 62-30 win over El Paso at the Eureka Shootout on Saturday, Shoufler scored 12 of his 16 points in the second quarter including a buzzer beater three at the half. Eli Smith (Glenwood Wrestling) The Titans won the Springfield Joe Bee Invite on Saturday and finished the day with three individual champions. One of those champions was Smith as he won the 175lb bracket with a pin at 3:02.
Aubrey Vogel (PORTA Girls Basketball) The Bluejays got the Sangamo basketball schedule started on Thursday and picked up a win over Auburn. The junior guard helped lead PORTA to the win with 11 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds. She also helped the Bluejays pick up a win over Midwest Central earlier in the week with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. PORTA sits at 10-3 heading into the Riverton Christmas Classic this week.
Lilly Wake (South Fork Girls Basketball) The Ponies picked up a third place finish in the Meridian Tournament with a win over the hosts on Tuesday. In that victory Wake scores 16 points including her 1,000th career point. She also scored 18 in a South Fork win over Riverton last week.
Kadi Wilbern (Glenwood Wrestling) The Glenwood girls competed in the Springfield Joe Bee Tournament on Saturday and had two individual champs. Wilbern was one of those champions and won the 105lb bracket with pins in both her semifinal and title matches. She currently sits at 16-1 this season.
Jaiyden Wilson (Springfield Boys Basketball) The Senators trailed by 14 in the fourth against Jacksonville on Saturday but came back for the win as Wilson helped lead the way. He scored eight of his 14 points in the final frame and scored the go-ahead basket to give Springfield the 62-61 lead. The Senators would go on to win 69-62.
