Samantha Breckenridge (Taylorville Volleyball) Taylorville took on Rochester in a regional final on Thursday and picked up a 25-17, 25-15 win. Breckenridge helped lead the Tornadoes in the victory with 14 digs, 13 assists, two kills and a block. Highlights of the win HERE.
Mckenzie Doe (Glenwood Boys Soccer) The Glenwood Titans will be playing in a super sectional game on Tuesday after winning the Warrensburg Latham sectional on Saturday. In the semifinal game Doe scored four goals on his way to a 6-0 win over Mahomet Seymour. See highlights of that win HERE and the sectional title win HERE.
Klaire Eighner (Maroa Forsyth Girls Cross Country) Eighner is on a roll this postseason with two individual victories in the last two weeks. She started by winning the 1A Olympia Regional last weekend with a time of 18:08.52. She then won the 1A Elmwood Sectional with a time of 17:50.33. Eighner will head to the state meet next weekend in Peoria.
Ava Hillyer (Sacred Heart Griffin Volleyball) Sacred Heart Griffin won a 2A regional in Jim Belz Gym on Thursday night with a 25-17, 25-13 win over Pleasant Plains. Hillyer was back on the floor after missing the regional semifinal due to injury. She picked up 25 assists, seven digs and two kills in the victory that you can see highlights of HERE.
Colten Knoedler (Glenwood Football) Glenwood hosted Crete-Monee on Saturday and picked up a 49-34 win. Knoedler threw for 475 yards and six touchdowns in the win. The Titans will travel to Oak Forest for a round two game on Saturday. See highlights of the round one win HERE.
Noah Molitor (Normal U-High Boys Soccer) The Central State Eight goals leader scored in two title games last week. In the sectional championship on Tuesday he scored one goal. That win sent the Pioneers to a super sectional on Saturday where Molitor scored twice in a 5-0 win. Normal U-High will once again be heading to state this weekend. Seamus O’Brien (Sacred Heart Griffin Football) The Cyclones traveled to Mahomet Seymour on Friday night for a 5A round one playoff game. O’Brien came up big for SHG in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns including the go-ahead score on their way to a 24-21 victory. SHG hosts Joliet Catholic on Saturday at 2pm. Taylin Scott (Quincy Notre Dame Football) QND welcomed Flora to town on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs and picked up a 49-6. The defense came up big for the Raiders allowing just 121 yards of total offense. Scott was a leader for the defense with 19 tackles including nine tackles for loss, plus a sack and a forced fumble. Grant Smith (Maroa Forsyth Football) The Illinois commit had a big round one game on Saturday afternoon at Walter Boyd Field. Smith had five receptions for 112 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans picked up a 49-13 win over St Teresa. Check out some highlights HERE.
Addie Stadsholt (Athens Volleyball) The Warriors are regional champs after a 2-1 victory over Williamsville on Thursday in Auburn. The senior had 13 kills, 12 digs and an ace in the 25-11, 12-25, 25-19 win. Athens heads to the Riverton Sectional this week. See highlights of the regional title victory HERE.
Carson Stevens (Normal U-High Football) The Pioneers won their first playoff game since 2013 on Friday in Manteno. Stevens rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns along with 24 receiving yards and a touchdown. Highlights of U-High’s 41-14 win HERE.
Peyton Torbert (Maroa Forsyth Volleyball) Maroa Forsyth won a regional on their home court on Thursday with a 25-22, 25-15 win over ALAH. Torbert helped lead the way for the Trojans with 12 digs, 5 kills and an assist in the victory.
Bryson Trickey (Williamsville Boys Soccer) Trickey was involved in all three goals the Bullets scored last week. He scored in the first minute of the 1A North Mac Sectional Final on Wednesday night. Trickey also had an assist on the other goal of that 2-0 sectional title win and an assist on the Bullets’ lone goal in the Super Sectional. Mo Wiezorek (Glenwood Volleyball) The Titans won the 3A Lincoln Regional on Thursday night with a 25-21, 25-15 win over the host Railers. Wiezorek had a big night with 21 assists, seven digs, a block, an ace and a kill. Highlights of the Glenwood win HERE.
Louisa Wilson (Williamsville Girls Cross Country) Back on the list this week and the senior helped lead the Bullets to another win in the postseason. Williamsville won the 1A Elmwood Sectional following a regional title last week. Wilson led the way again with a third place finish and a time of 18:01.17. The Bullets will head to state next weekend at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
