Brody Allen (Normal U-High Boys Golf) The Pioneers won a conference title then followed it up with a regional title a week later. Allen led U-High while earning medalist honors at the 2A Coal City Regional by shooing a 70. The team finished with a score of 291.
Colton Barr (Jacksonville Boys Golf) Barr took home medalist honors from the 2A Canton Regional last week with a score of 70. That led the Crimsons to a second place finish as a team to send them to sectionals.
Reid Bodine (Williamsville Boys Soccer) The Bullets clinches the Sangamo conference championship on Thursday with a 3-0 win over Athens. They finish the conference schedule unbeaten. Bodine scored two goals in the win over Athens, including a goal in the first two minutes of the game. He also had a hat trick in a win over Riverton earlier in the week. Paytan Bunner (Lincoln Football) The Railers picked up a 43-33 win over MacArthur on Friday night. Bunner scored four touchdowns in the game. He rushed for 107 yards and two scores while adding 30 receiving yards and two more touchdowns through the air. He also came up with a sack on the defensive said of the ball.
Alaina Ervin (Pleasant Plains Girls Golf) Ervin is back on the list this week as she followed up her conference medalist honors with medalist honors at the 1A Williamsville Regional on Tuesday. She shot a 73 while the Cardinals finished third as a team to advance to sectionals.
Amanda Freehill (Normal U-High Volleyball) The Normal U-High Pioneers are 7-0 in the CS8 after a 25-18, 25-21 win over Lincoln on Thursday. Freehill came up with much needed points for the Pioneers throughout the game with a total of eight aces. She also had seven digs and four kills in the win. Faron Harmony (Springfield High Boys Soccer) The Senators picked up a 3-0 win over SHG on Tuesday and Harmony had the assist on all three goals. Harmony plays a big part for Springfield controlling the midfield while creating chances & opportunities for his team. See the highlights of the CS8 win HERE.
AJ Holden (Normal U-High Football) The Pioneers picked up a big CS8 win over Glenwood on Friday night at Hancock Stadium. Holden made plays in all three phases of the game. He had 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns, a 13 yard punt return and came up with an interception while deflecting two more passes. See how U-High got the 33-13 win HERE.
Willow Milkint (Pleasant Plains Volleyball) The Cardinals are once again Sangamon County Champs after a 25-22, 25-15 win over Athens on Monday night. Milkint came up with some plays in important moments to help lead Plains to the win. She finished the game with seven kills. Highlights of the county title win HERE.
Brayden Mueller (Glenwood Boys Golf) The Titans are regional champs after winning the team title at the 3A Collinsville Regional on Wednesday. Glenwood won with a score of 282 with Mueller shooting a team best 68.
Noah Rodenburg (Lutheran High Boys Soccer) The Crusaders picked up a 3-2 win over Pleasant Plains on Wednesday and it was Rodenburg helping to lead the way. Lutheran was down 2-0 by the midway point of the first half but Rodenburg would go on to finish with the hat trick for the victory. Check out the highlights of that performance HERE.
Brody Scheffler (Springfield High Football) Going 4-for-4 on a four play, 80 yard game winning drive is one way to earn a place on this list but thats not all Scheffler did on Friday night. In the 36-29 win over Jacksonville Scheffler went 27-for-37 for 454 yards and four touchdowns through the air. That includes the game winning TD to Kale Thurman with 35.4 seconds left. He also rushed for six yards and a score and picked up eight receiving yards. Highlights of the Senators victory HERE.
Lucas Smith (Glenwood Boys Soccer) The Glenwood Titans remain unbeaten in CS8 play with a 2-1 win over Rochester on Thursday. Smith is a great defender and creates offensive chances with his ability to throw into the box. His long throws force the defense to adapt. One of his throw ins against Rochester led to a goal that put the Titans on the board. Highlights of the Glenwood win HERE.
Anderson Thielen (Pleasant Plains Boys Golf) Thielen won medalist honors at the 1A Routt Regional on Wednesday with a score of 74. That helped lead the Cardinals to a team second place finish to advance to sectionals.
Natalie Zak (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Golf) The Cyclones won a regional title last week at the 1A Williamsville Regional with a team score of 318. It was Zak who led the way with a team high score of 68.
