Tate Brandenburg (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) On Monday at Lincoln Land, Maroa Forsyth won their second super sectional title in three years. The Trojans picked up a 10-4 win over Litchfield and Brandenburg had a big day at the plate driving in five. He went 2-for-5 with two triples and also scored two runs. Check out the highlights HERE.
Conrad Charpentier (Routt Baseball) Two big pitching performance from Charpentier last week. In a 4-1 eight inning win over Father McGivney in the super sectional Charpentier picked up the win. He threw seven innings allowing no earned runs and struck out eight. In the third place game on Saturday the Rockets picked up a 3-0 win over Gibson City. Charpentier was on the mound again and threw seven innings allowing four hits, no runs and struck out ten. Highlights of the super sectional victory HERE.
Lillian Johns (Williamsville Girls Soccer) The Bullets brought home their best finish in program history on Saturday with a second place finish at state. Johns had two big games in goal for Williamsville during the tournament. In the semifinal she picked up the shutout as the Bullets won 1-0 and in the title game she helped keep the Bullets in it after a early goal from Althoff Catholic. Madison Rigdon (Williamsville Girls Soccer) A big goal from Rigdon in the state semifinal on Thursday helped send the Bullets into the state title game. Scoreless with less then five minutes to play it was a 40-yard free kick goal from Rigdon that put the Bullets ahead. Williamsville held on in the final minutes for the 1-0 win over Chicago University to move into the state championship game. Check out that goal and more HERE.
Mailee Schoen (Auburn Softball) The Auburn Trojans picked up a six inning, 12-2 win over Effingham St Anthony on Monday to win a super sectional title and punched their ticket to state. Schoen went 3-for-4 in the game including a two RBI double. She finished the day with 3 RBIs and one run scored. Highlights of the win HERE.
Meena Taylor (Auburn Softball) Back on the list this week after a great pitching performance in the state semifinal game despite falling to North Boone 2-0. Taylor started off the game with three strikeouts on ten pitches. She finished with 14 strikeouts in seven innings pitched, allowing just two hits and two earned runs. Auburn would bring home their first state trophy in program history with a fourth place finish. See highlights of the state semifinal game HERE.
Mitch Williams (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) Two years ago the Trojans took home a fourth place finish at state, this year they took home second. Williams was consistent at the plate in both games reaching base in all eight plate appearances. In a 11-1 win over Newman Central Catholic, Williams went 3-for-3 with one walk and two RBIs. He also got the scoring started with a RBI single in the third as Maroa Forsyth scored eight that inning. In the title game against St Anthony, Williams went 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs.
