Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: May 13-18

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Jed Furguson (Auburn Baseball) The Trojans are regional champs after a 4-1, eight inning win over Piasa Southwestern on Saturday. Tied at one after seven innings, it was Furguson who come up with his second hit of the day for an RBI double to take the lead in the top of eight. Auburn would score three that inning on their way to the win. They will head to the Pleasant Plains sectional this week.

Luke Harvey and Evan Aleman (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Tennis) The Sacred Heart Griffin Cyclones won a 1A sectional title at home on Saturday. Harvey and Aleman helped lead the way as they won the doubles bracket. The championship match was a 6-1, 6-4 win over a pair from Greenville. They will compete at the state tournament this weekend.

Becca Heitzig (Lincoln Girls Track and Field) The Railer completed the three-peat on Saturday as she took home two state titles in her final high school meet. Heitzig won the 2A 800 meter for a third straight year with a time of 2:09.55. She won the 2A 1600 meter as well with a time of 4:58.82. Heitzig wasn’t done though as she ran the anchor leg of the Railers 4×400 team that took home 9th. Check out highlights of her title wins and hear from Heitzig HERE.

Katelyn Lehnen (Glenwood Girls Track and Field) This Titan has added two more state titles to her collection. Lehnen started the day with a win in the 3A 100 meter with a time of 11.69 seconds. She then won the 3A 400 meter with a time of 54.81 seconds. In her final event of the day Lehnen picked up a fourth place finish in the 3A 200 meter. Gage Luttrell (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones won a regional title in exciting fashion on Saturday. In the bottom of the seventh down one with the bases loaded it was Luttrell who come up with a two RBI single to walk things off. He also pitched 5.2 innings allowing two hits and striking out five. The Cyclones will play in the Pleasant Plains sectional this week.

Reese Mitchell (Normal U-High Girls Track and Field) The Pioneers are State Champions! Normal U-High picked up the 2A team title at the state track meet on Saturday, just a couple years after a second place finish. Mitchell is one of the senior captains that helped lead the way. She picked up third in the 100 meter (12.17 seconds), and was part of three relays; the fourth place 4×100 (48.04), the 4×200 which finished third (1:42.42) and the 4×400 team that placed fifth (4:02.53). North Mac 4×100 Relay – A big moment for the team of Kaelyn Swift, Emma Crawford, Alexis Bowman and Addison Earley on Saturday as they won a state championship and broke the 1A 4×100 record. The victory came in 48.50 seconds which was one hundredth of a seconds faster then the previous 1A record set in 2012. See highlights of the state track meet and hear from the champs HERE.

Bryson Schachtsiek (PORTA Boys Track and Field) A big day for Schachtsiek at the Rushville sectional last week. He qualified for state in three events, one came with a win in the 300 hurdles (41.50). He also qualified and picked up a new school record in long jump at 6.43 meters. His last event was the 4×200 in which the team qualified for state and broke a school record with a time of 1:32. 

Danny Skelton (Pleasant Plains Boys Track and Field) The Cardinals won another sectional title last week. Skelton helped lead the way by being a part of three wins and a second place finish. His individual win came in the 110 hurdles (15.41) and he picked up a second place finish in the 300 hurdles. Skelton was a part of the winning 4×100 relay (43.12) and the winning 4×200 relay (1:30.73).

Maggie Stadler (Normal U-High Softball) The Pioneers won a regional title on Friday and it was Stadler in the circle helping lead the way. Stadler allowed no hits and no runs in seven innings pitched. She also struck out nine in the 2-0 U-High victory. The Pioneers head to the Monticello sectional this week.

Addie Stadsholt (Athens Girls Track and Field) The Warriors have a State Champion! Stadsholt picked up the state title in 1A discus on Saturday at Eastern. The winning throw was 39.86 meters or 130 feet 9 inches. Hear from the state champion after her win HERE.

Addison Wheatley (Auburn Softball) The Trojans are regional champs after an extra inning, walk-off win over Carlinville on Friday. Scoreless after seven innings the game went to the eighth and in the bottom half of the inning Auburn loaded the bases. Wheatley came to the plate and knocked in the game winning run with a single to center field. The Trojans head to the Williamsville sectional this week.

Caroline Willenborg (Pleasant Plains Girls Soccer) The Cardinals won a 2A regional title on Saturday against Rochester in double overtime. Tied at one after regulation and still tied after one overtime period, it was Willenborg who picked up a goal with 9:10 remaining in the second overtime to put the Cardinals in front. Reese Wolfe (Glenwood Track and Field) Another Titan bringing home a state title this week was Wolfe in pole vault. After a long day of competition the junior’s win came at 3.80 meters or 12 feet 5.5 inches. We caught up with her following the victory HERE.
