Trinity in Taylorville Prime Time Performer: March 25-30

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Colbie Glenn (Lincoln Baseball) The Railers hosted Jacksonville on Wednesday in a CS8 game at Mike Curry Field. Glenn came up big for Lincoln both at the plate and on the mound. He went 3-4 with one RBI and three runs scored. Glenn also picked up the save in relief with two innings pitched. He allowed one hit and one walk in those two innings and struck out three. Bailey Leach (Pleasant Plains Girls Soccer) Pleasant Plains picked up a big Sangamo win on Friday night as they traveled to Williamsville. In double overtime, two minutes away from penalty kicks, it was Leach who scored the goal to break the scoreless tie as the Cardinals would pick up 1-0 win. Irie Lohrenz (Glenwood Softball) A CS8 matchup on Thursday saw two undefeated teams face off on the softball diamond. It was the Titans that moved to 5-0 this season with the 4-0 win over Springfield High. Lohrenz threw a complete game shutout while striking out 12 batters and allowing just two hits. Faith Nestler (Pleasant Plains Softball) The Cardinals picked up a 2-0 win over Gillespie in their opening game of the PORTA Slam on Saturday. Pleasant Plains was led by Nestler in the circle with six innings pitched allowing three hits and no runs. She also struck out six in the process. At the plate Nestler drove in one run. Izzy Nowack (Williamsville Softball) Nowack had a big week at the plate for the Bullets this week. In five games she went 10 for 14 for a .714 average. Those hits included five singles and five doubles. In a 8-5 loss to Normal U-High she picked up three doubles while going 4-4 with three RBIs. Check out highlights of that game HERE.

Van Schneider (Glenwood Track & Field) Schneider was a two time winner at the Springfield High Open on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. He picked up wins in the 800 meter with a time of 1:59.11 and the 1600 meter with a time of 4:32.13.

Eleanor Schudel (Rochester Softball) The Rockets picked up two wins at the PORTA Slam on Saturday. In the three games played Schudel went 6-9 and drove in three runs. In a 7-6 win over Olympia, she went 3-3 with two RBIs. She also had a hit and RBI in a loss to U-High on Wednesday and two RBIs in a win over U-High on Thursday. Emme Steward (Normal U-High Softball) U-High hosted Williamsville on Monday in a back and forth battle. It was Steward who led the way in the victory as she went 3-4 at the plate and drove in five. One of those hits was a go-ahead two run homer in the fifth inning as the Pioneers went on to pick up a 8-5 win. In a Central State Eight game at Rochester on Wednesday, Steward went 1-2 with an RBI in the 7-2 win over the Rockets. Highlights of the win against Williamsville HERE and Rochester HERE.

Meena Taylor (Auburn Softball) The Trojans started off a busy week with a 5-1 win over Hillsboro on Monday. In that victory, Taylor struck out eight and allowed just one hit and one run in seven innings pitched. She also had a two RBI double that broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the second. At the PORTA Slam on Saturday, Taylor threw a one hit shutout with 15 strikeouts against Warrensburg Latham and another one hit shutout while striking out nine against Havana. Brooklyn Termine (Williamsville Girls Soccer) The Williamsville Bullets have started the season with an 8-1 record with the lone loss coming in double overtime to Pleasant Plains. In wins over St Teresa and Auburn last week it was Termine helping to lead the way with two goals in both games. Check out the goals against St Teresa HERE and Auburn HERE.

Devan Tupper (Normal U-High Baseball) The Pioneers hosted the Rochester Rockets on Wednesday night and picked up a 4-1 win for the Central State Eight victory. Tupper was the U-High starter that night and threw six innings allowing just one hit and run while striking out nine. He also picked up one hit in the victory. Mia Volpert (Springfield High Softball) The Springfield junior continues her early season success with a no hitter against Bloomington on Saturday. Volpert threw seven innings, allowing no hits or runs, just one walk and striking out 12 in the 3-0 win. She also went 2-2 at the plate with one RBI, two runs scored and two walks.
