LLCC: Loggers Win Big Over The Trailblazers

Lincoln Land – 81
Lewis and Clark – 58

The Lincoln Land Loggers were on the road Wednesday night for a NJCAA Region 24 contest against Lewis and Clark Community College and the Loggers outpaced the Trailblazers, 81-58.

Camren Kincaid has been pacing Lincoln Land with his scoring, but he came out dishing to teammates and getting assists on the first three buckets for the Loggers and passed out 6 assists in the first half. Sharing was the theme for the Loggers early who has 10 assists on 16 first half field goals. The game was tied at 6-6 and then the team ball by LLCC put them on a n 8-0 run and 21-2 run over the next 6:00 of game play. The Loggers got up by as many as 20 in that first frame. Slowly Lewis and Clark began to fight their way back into the contest going on a 9-2 run of their own and getting as close as 12 during the end stretch of the first half. Although stumbling towards the end, the Loggers still went into the half with a strong showing and a 42-28 lead.

The second half provided little in impression into the Logger lead. The score remained virtually the same for much of the second session. Eventually the Loggers were able to pull a bit further away and again lead by 20+ and led by as many as 27. The second half featured the highlight of the game as on a fast break Jermontre Young went behind the back for a Brandenn Robinson slam that helped emotionally put the game away for the Loggers. Lewis and Clark put in a few buckets at the end of the game to get a little closer, but Lincoln Land ran away with this one, 81-53.

Lincoln Land ended the contest shooting 51% from the field, compared to Lewis and Clark’s 32% on the same amount of shot attempts. One reason for the strong shooting effort was 16 assists by the Loggers, compared to 2 by Lewis and Clark. 11 Loggers scored on the night, a season-high. The leading scorer on the evening was Brandenn Robinson with a career high 16, scoring 9 after the break. Dane Foster ended with 10 and Kyle Leonard ended with 11 to be the other Loggers over 10 points. 9 Loggers scored at least 6 points on the evening.

Lincoln Land improves to 7-7 on the season, but more importantly 3-0 in Region 24 play. They will head to East Peoria on Saturday to take on Illinois Central College where the winner will walk away with at least a tie for first place in the conference and the region standings.
