Prime Time Performer Trinity In Taylorville: December 4-9

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Avery Braden (Maroa Forsyth Girls Basketball) A big week for the Trojans’ sophomore with a combined 72 points in three games. Braden scored 32 points with seven rebounds and three steals in a 75-65 win against SJO. She then scored 30 points against Warrensburg Latham and finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three steals against Tri-Valley.

Connor Brown (Calvary Boys Basketball) A career milestone for Brown this week as he picked up his 1,000th point in a win over Mt Olive on Tuesday night. In that win he finished with 24 points. He also scored 12 points in the Saints’ 61-55 win against Athens on Saturday night. You can see the highlights against Athens HERE.

Madison Burke (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) The Cardinals handed Quincy Notre Dame their first loss of the season on Tuesday night with a 45-33 win. In that victory, Burke scored 20 points. She also had a good night in a back and forth battle with Southeast on Monday night which lead to a 61-54 Cardinals victory. Highlights of the win over QND HERE and Southeast HERE.

Amaree Burries (Jacksonville Boys Basketball) The Crimsons traveled to Lincoln on Friday night for a Central State Eight matchup and took home a 51-43 win. Burries had a big night with 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double double. He also scored 23 in a overtime win against Rochester on Tuesday night. Check out the highlights against Lincoln HERE.

Cooper Carter (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans picked up a win on Friday night in the War on 104 as they travled to Pawnee. In the 54-42 victory, Carter got hot from three point range in the second to help give Auburn the lead before the half. See some of those threes and more highlights of the win HERE.

King Dees (MacArthur Boys Basketball) The Generals picked up two big Central State Eight wins last week. The first came in overtime on Tuesday with a 74-68 win at Lanphier. Dees scored 19 points in that win to go along with seven rebounds. He also had a good game against Sacred Heart Griffin on Friday night with a 75-56 victory. Jonathan Helm (Glenwood Boys Basketball) The Titans travled to Springfield High on Tuesday night and picked up a 58-24 win for their second CS8 win of the season. Helm got hot in the second quarter as the Senators went on a run to help them pull away before halftime. Check out the highlights of that win HERE.

Addison Tarr (Taylorville Girls Basketball) The Tornadoes picked up a 48-29 non-conference win over Pleasant Plains last week at home. Tarr led the way for Taylorville with 17 points in the victory. You can check out the highlights HERE.

Drew Hayes (Lincoln Boys Basketball) The Railers travled to Southeast on Tuesday night and picked up a 51-42 win over the Spartans. Hayes had a team high 13 points in the victory. JaiQuan Holman (Lanphier Boys Basketball) The Lions had two home games last week with their final games in the “old” Lober-Nika Gymnasium. Holman was hot from three point range on Friday night against Springfield High with six three-pointers. He finished with 26 points in the 63-56 win. Noah Lyons (South County Boys Basketball) The Vipers picked up a big win over PORTA on Wednesday night with a 45-30 victory. In that win, Lyons finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. Jayce Privia (PORTA Girls Basketball) The PORTA Lady Jays had a busy Saturday with two games at two different shootouts. They got the day started at the T. Todt Shootout with a 52-33 win over Carlinville in which Privia scored 16 points. Then, they moved their record to 9-0 at the Red Kettle Shootout with a 38-24 win against Sullivan. Anthony “Joey” Ruzic (Auburn Wrestling) Ruzic was the lone local champ at the PORTA Rex Avery Invite in Petersburg on Saturday. He picked up the win in the 126 pound bracket with a fall at 4:46 in the title match. Highlights from the Rex Avery Invite HERE.
