Brayden Leathers (Athens Football) The all-state linebacker was all over the field in the 2A championship game on Friday. According to IHSA’s stats, Leathers had a total of 18 tackles with 14 of those being solo tackles. He also forced a fumble that was recovered by Athens in the first half and was an important part of the offensive line. See the highlights of the state championship game HERE.
Rochester Offensive Line (Rochester Football) After winning a 4A state title the O-Line deserves some love. The Rocket’s offensive line is made up of Danny Dyer, Parker Lyons, Jake Milliron, Jett Myren and Karter Reiss. In the championship game, they helped the offense to 492 total offensive yards, only giving up one tackle for loss. Of those nearly 500 yards, 305 of them were rushing yards on 51 attempts for five rushing touchdowns. Highlights of the state title game HERE.
Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) The Saints got the season started with a 74-51 win over Riverton. In the win, Blackford led the way for Calvary with three threes and 27 points. You can see the highlights of the game HERE.
Gannon Dodd (New Berlin Boys Basketball) The Pretzels won the Gene Bergschneider Tournament last week in the Pretzel Dome. Dodd was a constant for New Berlin all week long. In the title game against Routt, he scored 23 points. See those highlights HERE.
Shaunassey Hatchett Jr (Lanphier Boys Basketball) The Lions had a busy week last week taking on some good competition in four different games. They ended their week at the Quincy Thanksgiving Tournament. Hatchett had a double double with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a win against Tinley Park on Thanksgiving. He also scored 20 points against Phillips and had 13 points and six rebounds against Quincy to help seal a spot on the all-tournament team.
Clayton Kessler (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans finished second at the Bill Rucks Tournament in Mt Pulaski with a record of 3-1 in the tournament. In pool play, they picked up wins over Illini Central, Edinburg and Delavan. Kessler was an all-tournament selection for the Trojans. Jaylene Simmons (Southeast Boys Basketball) The Spartans picked up the consolation championship at the Decatur Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend with a 48-44 win over Eisenhower. In that game, Simmons finished with a double double of 22 points and 19 rebounds.
Taryn Stoltzenburg (Lincoln Girls Basketball) The Railers are back on the basketball court and picked up where they left off last season. In Lincoln’s big win over East St Louis at the Morton Thanksgiving Tournament, Stoltzenburg had 15 points. Lincoln would go on to win the tournament over Morton on Saturday night. Stevie Tatum (MacArthur Boys Basketball) The MacArthur Generals finished second at the Decatur Thanksgiving Tournament but it was Tatum that had a big week for the Generals. He got things started in the win over Southeast with three second quarter threes to help propel MacArthur to the win. He also had 15 points in the title game against Bolingbrook.
