Nico Velasco made the most of his chance in the 11th minute of the 2A state semifinal and finished it for the game’s only goal. Crystal Lake South beat Rochester 1-0 to advance to Saturday’s championship game against the defending state champions from Peoria Notre Dame. Rochester will play St Laurence at 9 am on Saturday for third place.
