Rylann Law (Glenwood Girls Soccer) The Titans are off to a hot start with two victories and so is Rylann Law. She totaled 6 goals in two games last week. The first two came against UHigh in a 4-1 win on Wednesday. Then in a game against Collinsville on Thursday she scored four goals in a 5-0 victory. Evan Foster (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) Maroa Forsyth got their season started last week with two games. The first was against Meridian on Wednesday. In the 1-0 win, Foster threw a complete game shutout, striking out 17 and allowing just one hit. He also had two hits and three RBIs against Tuscola the next day. Eleanor Schudel (Rochester Softball) The Rockets got a game in last week against Pleasant Plains. Schudel started the season off hot at the plate. She had three hits, two RBIs and scored three runs in the victory. Rochester starts the Central State Eight season this week against SHG.
Quin Saxer (Jacksonville Baseball) The Crimsons got a 9-0 win over Macomb last week as Saxer had two impressive stat lines. At the plate, he had three RBIs and scored a run. On the mound, Saxer threw seven shutout innings, striking out 14 and allowing just one hit.
Bailey Leach (Pleasant Plains Girls Soccer) Pleasant Plains picked up two victories at the St Teresa tournament last week before the championship got cancelled due to cold weather on Saturday. In the semifinal game against Pana, Leach scored two goals as the Cardinals went on to win 5-0. Highlights of that victory HERE.
Mia Volpert (Springfield High Senators) Springfield High started off the season with a win on Wednesday while Volpert got it done at the plate and in the circle. She went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. She also threw five no hit innings while striking out eight in a 10-0 victory over New Berlin.
Katelyn Lehnen (Glenwood Girls Track and Field) Another record for the sophomore, this time it’s a meet record. At the Gene Armer Invite at the University of Illinois on Saturday, Lehnen set a meet record in the 60m. She won the 60 with a time of 7.52.
Tim Herrington (Southeast Baseball) The Spartans started off the season with a big 24-2 victory over Peoria last week. Herrington led Southeast with four hits, three RBIs and scored four runs in the victory.
Cale Smith (Eisenhower Boys Track and Field) Smith got a win at the Gene Armer Invite in Champaign on Saturday in the 1600m. His time was 4:30.39 which was less then half a second ahead of the second place finisher.
Josie Patterson (North Mac Softball) The Panthers picked up a win over former Sangamo rival Auburn last week. In the 10-5 victory, Patterson was the winning pitcher while striking out 13. She also went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and a homer.
