Alaina Marr (PORTA Girls Basketball) The Lady Jays continue to stay unbeaten and picked up a conference victory over Riverton on Thursday. Marr helped PORTA build a lead early with four threes in the first half for a total of 12 points. See those threes and more highlights HERE.
Will Hamilton (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) A couple more big wins from the Cyclones last week to stay undefeated. In a win over St. Louis Chaminade, Will picked up 11 points but most of the time he impact does not show on the stat sheet. Hamilton does so much for SHG on the court and is a big part of the defense. Highlights of the win over Chaminade HERE.
Zach Powell (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) The Cardinals are county champs for the fourth year in a row. Powell was a big part of the overtime win with 20 points in the championship. He also had a double double in the semifinal win against Williamsville with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Highlights of the championship HERE and semifinal HERE.
Austin Robinson (Lanphier Boys Basketball) The Lions snapped a four game losing streak with a win over Rochester on Thursday. In that 70-49 victory Robinson led the team with a double double. He had 15 points in the win along with 13 rebounds.
Carter Hunley (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans finished second at the Sangamon county tournament last week while picking up wins over Calvary and New Berlin on their way to the championship game. In the semifinal victory over the Pretzels, Hunley had a game high 21 points with 17 of those points coming in the second half. Highlights of the semifinal HERE.
Maggie Fleischli (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Basketball) The Cyclones picked up a win over a good Mahomet Seymour team last week. Fleischli had 20 points in the 42-35 victory. SHG travels to Eisenhower and hosts Glenwood this week.
Brandenn Robinson (Springfield High Boys Basketball) The Senators added a big conference win to their record on Tuesday with a 63-60 victory over Glenwood. In that win Robinson had 13 points and 17 rebounds for a double double.
Christina Rice (MacArthur Girls Basketball) MacArthur traveled to Lanphier last week and picked up a win. Rice has been a consistent piece for the Generals all year and at Lober-Nika Gym she scored a game high 28 points. She also had 20 points in a one point loss to Glenwood on Friday.
Drew Davis (Glenwood Wrestling) The Titans (#5 in the state) picked up a tie breaker win over Washington (#2 in the state) on Friday night before they travled to Mahomet Seymour Invite on Saturday. Davis was the Titan that picked up a championship in his weight class on Saturday as he continues a dominate season.
Jaycee Smith (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) Pleasant Plains moved to 3-0 in the Sangamo with wins over Williamsville and Illini Central this week. The Cardinals got 17 points from Smith in the win over Williamsville. She also added some points to the board in the win against Illini Central on Thursday.
