Athens hosted Auburn in Sangamo Conference action on Tuesday night. The Warriors scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 victory. Athens was led by Tommy Westervelt who had three RBIs and was solid on the mound for 5.2 innings. Kyle Weatherford got the win for the Warriors as he came in for the final four outs of the game. Cole Smith struck out eight in five innings pitched for the Trojans while Brody Barnes had one RBI.
Sangamo Conference action continues on Thursday when Athens travels to Maroa Forsyth and Auburn hosts Pleasant Plains.
