Jacksonville’s Two Hits And Clutch Performance From Dugan Enough To Upset SHG In Regional Semifinals

It wasn’t the single best performance of the year from Avery Dugan, but it must have been the gutsiest and and it almost surely was the most important. The Jacksonville senior threw a complete game in the Crimsons 4-3 upset win over SHG at the 3A Glenwood Regional semifinals on Wednesday.

Jacksonville scored three runs in the top of the first inning on just one hit. SHG got two back in the bottom of the second and tied the game on a Riley Krump RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. That lead was short lived, however, as the Crimsons crossed the eventual game winning run on a passed ball in the top of the sixth. Jacksonville scored four runs while managing just two hits in the game.

Jacksonville will play Glenwood on Saturday at 11am in the regional championship game.
