On paper, the matchup between New Berlin and Mt. Pulaski looked to be quite a fun one. Two teams with strong sets of guards and a dominant big man was exactly what we saw in the first quarter at the Pretzel Dome, as the Hilltoppers led 11-8. But midway through the second quarter, the Pretzels kicked it into another gear and ripped off a 13-0 run to go into halftime up 28-18. From there, New Berlin cruised to a 56-35 win thanks to strong guard play from Carson Reese, who had a team-high 13 points, as well as big buckets from Connor Allen and Ben Butcher.
Max Day added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Casey Bixby had 12 points and 9 rebounds in the win.
