Springfield High used a 15-2 run to end the first quarter to break a 7-7 tie and take a 22-9 lead over SHG in the girls basketball City Tournament championship game on Saturday night at Dewey Gymnasium. The Senators never relinquished the lead in a 63-49 win that secured their fifth consecutive City crown.
Springfield had five scorers reach double digits including junior Nicole Swehla who had a team high 13 of the bench. Abby Ratsch added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
SHG was paced by senior Catie Eck who scored a game high 21 points.
