Garrett Reichert led Athens with 22 points but it was Drayton Davis’ shot with 2.4 seconds left that gave the Warriors a 54-52 win over Illini Central at home.
Davis finished with 17 points as Athens clawed back from an 11 point deficit, helped by Illini Central’s Max May who had a game high 25 points for the Cougars.
The loss gives Athens the Tomahawk traveling trophy and hands Illini Central their second Sangamo loss and keeps Athens at 3 conference losses, both teams chasing Williamsville who has yet to lose in conference.
