The Maroa-Forsyth vs. Athens rivalry has had an exciting start over the past three seasons but it had never seen a game played at Walter Boyd Field. That changed on Friday and the Trojans protected their house to the tune of a 56-15 running clock win over Athens.
Maroa running back Deondre Gregory ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries. Quarterback Ian Benner completed 11-of-13 passes for 266 yards and three scores while rushing for 46 yards and another touchdown. Kam Boline scored on a 51 yard run and he caught four passes for 96 yards and a receiving touchdown.
It was the first loss of the season for Athens (5-1). Maroa improves to 5-1 and will play Riverton in Week 7.
