Cole Greer– The all state shortstop for Pleasant Plains was not only the senior leader on the team and the leadoff hitter but a staple at short up the middle for Pleasant Plains throughout his career.
Talon File – How many conferences have two all state players at one position? Williamsville’s Talon File lost his partner up the middle to a knee injury but stayed strong up the middle at shortstop and helped the Bullets win yet another regional.
Logan Shepard – The Trojans entered the conference like only they could. Maroa-Forsyth’s catcher kept the pitching staff solid and made some great defensive plays behind the plate this season.
Chase Kuntzman – Rochester surprised everyone outside of their town by claiming a share of the CS8 title. A very good defender in the outfield for the Rockets, Chase Kuntzman was tracking down fly balls like only Koondoog could.
Jake Ryan – All the attention in Chatham was on the mound for good reason, but Glenwood’s catcher was way better than we often see in high school. Jake Ryan was one of the best catcher the CS8 has seen in a long time, offensively and defensively.
Tommy Drake – Up the middle for SHG was a solid combination on the turf that’s tough to deal with. We saw Tommy Drake turn quite a few double plays for the Cyclones to land him on the list.
Avery Dugan – Jacksonville’s utility guy started out behind the plate this season and then played just about everyone position on the infield. The Crimsons quarterback showed he’s just as good on the baseball diamond as well.
Andrew Michel – MacArthur may not have won many CS8 games but a guy who kept them in the hunt was Andrew Michel who can play just about any position 1-9. Michel led the Generals and showed that he’s all conference caliber.
Jared Viele – If you keep up with the Plays of the Week and Lites of the Nite, you’ve heard this name a few times in the past few months. SHG’s outfielder Jared Viele showed he’s not just a hockey player by making some spectacular plays for the Cyclones.
Trevor Minder – The human highlight reel expanded his game by pitching for Springfield High this season but the best stop for Minder has always been shortstop. The Senators always knew what they’d get from him and we knew he’d make a play or two per game that most wouldn’t.
Ben Chapman – Rochester shared the CS8 title because of their relentless hitting throughout the lineup and solid defense that was led by the man behind the plate. Teams learned quickly not to run on Chapman and the Rockets were so much better with him behind the dish.
