Prime Time Performers: January 23rd – 28th

BIG PTP No Add

Here are this week’s candidates for Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Drew Cowles (Lutheran High Guard) Lutheran High won their final three games in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament out in Auburn, and a big reason why was the big contribution from Drew Cowles. The slender scorer had 25 points against Calvary, 13 against South County and 17 against Auburn. Under new management, the junior guard will look to shine in his final weeks this season.

Terrion Murdix (Southeast Guard) On a team stacked with senior talent that’s been getting varsity minutes for four years, there’s a couple special sophomores showing out on the East Side. Everybody knows about Anthony Fairlee, but Terrion Murdix had his coming out party on Friday night against the Crimsons. Murdix poured in 21 points at the Bowl as Southeast held on for the win.

Hunter Crumly (Glenwood Wrestler) On a banged up team looking to get healthy heading into the postseason while still trying to lock up a CS8 title, the Titans senior stepped up big last week. Hunter Crumly answered the bell by wrestling up at heavyweight against Springfield High and getting the win by an 11-3 decision. Crumly has to wrestle Will Putnam in the practice room all season and that’s certainly has him prepared for doing what needs to be done at the end of the year.

Megan Price (PORTA Guard) How about the performance from PORTA guard Megan Price last week? Talk about a big game. Price put up 28 of her 34 points in the second half of the Bluejays’ game against Rushville-Industry to help her team win.

Ashley Robinson (Springfield High Guard) Ashley Robinson knows all about Springfield High winning the girls City title. In her high school career, the Senators have always won it and honestly, for most of her life. Robinson made sure her junior season was no different. She scored 19 points against SHG on Thursday to lead the Solons to another victory. Robinson couldn’t miss from three, hitting five of eight from behind the arch.

Sydney Landers (Auburn Wrestler) The Trojans came home from Litchfield this weekend with a third place team finish and four individual titles, but maybe none were more impressive then 170 pounder Sydney Landers. The senior captain had to upset the #6 and #3 wrestler on his way to the title match against his opponent from 1A powerhouse Lena-Winslow and Landers came away with the win. Regionals start this weekend and Landers will looking to make a run to Champaign to close out his high school career.

Kaelyn Froebe (Lincoln Guard) Rochester may have won the Non-City girls basketball tournament last week, but the argument could be made that Froebe was the MVP. Maybe it was her Ten Question Tuesday fame or maybe it’s Lincoln starting to click at the right time. Froebe had a 30 point performance and a 26 point performance last week, including going 17 of 19 from the free throw line against MacArthur.

Angela Perry (Rochester Forward) If we’re talking about dominant showing, nobody has been better in the CS8 this season than Angela Perry. Her Rockets are still undefeated in the CS8 and they stormed through the non-city tournament for yet another trophy. Perry put up 20 against Glenwood, 12 against Lincoln, 13 against Eisenhower and 15 against MacArthur. Think she’s on the Senators’ scouting report for Tuesday’s showdown in Springfield?

Jared Viele (SHG Hockey) We’ve shown hockey some love this season, but these ties have to stop. SHG and Glenwood played to another tie last week, scoring four goals each. The Cyclones got three of those off the stick of Jared Viele, who had a hat trick against SHG’s rivals. Viele has been a finisher on the ice for Brett Chiaro’s team the past few seasons, we’re just asking him to make sure the score isn’t tied on Friday when the third period ends between SHG & Glenwood in their final regular season showdown.
