Down 24-15 going into the second half, the Taylorville defense needed its best stretch to save their season and the Tornadoes delivered. Taylorville forced two turnovers which lead to two touchdowns and ultimately put Taylorville into Round 2 with a 32-24 road win at Alton Marquette. Brandon Odam forced a late Marquette fumble and then threw the game winning score to fellow sophomore Justin Wright. Junior Evan Champley ran for a 59 yard touchdown and also returned an interception for a score late in the game to seal a win. Taylorville moves on to Round 2 where they will host Class 4A No. 1 Belleville Althoff next weekend.
