Springfield High beat Champaign Centennial 7-4 on Saturday in the 3A Lincoln Land Sectional Final, giving the Senators their first sectional title in 31 years.

Damian Pierce drove in four runs in the win for the Senators including a key two-run triple in the fifth inning that sparked a four-run inning that put the Senators ahead for good.

Starting pitcher Michael Lavin was chased after just 2 1/3, but Vishakh Patel came in from catcher to throw four superb innings in relief.

Springfield advances to the Sauget super sectional to take on the winner of Waterloo and Freeburg on Monday at 5 p.m.
