Lanphier Makes The Pressure Of A Supersectional Centralia’s Problem In Dominant Win To Earn Trip To State


 

Lanphier took the pressure of playing in a supersectional and turned it squarely on Centralia on Tuesday night. The Orphans withered under the weight and Lanphier cruised to a 64-38 win in the 3A Springfield Supersectional at the PCCC to earn a trip to Carver Arena in Peoria on Friday and Saturday for the IHSA state tournament.

Lanphier forced 15 Centralia turnovers and scored 19 points on those possessions while giving the ball away just four times all game. Yaakema Rose led Lanphier with 19 points to go with five rebounds and six steals. Cardell McGee added 17 points and seven rebounds and Aundrae Williams scored 15 points. Lanphier won the rebound battle 32-20.

The Lions will play Morgan Park in Friday’s 3A state semifinals at Carver Arena in Peoria at 12:45.
