SHG picked up home runs from Bree Derhake (No. 2 in batting order), Kenzie Trees (No. 8) and Lakyn Wagoner (No.9) in a 13-7 wind blown victory over Freeburg in the 3A Mattoon Supersectional on Monday. The game featured six total home runs, three from each team. With the win, the Cyclones earn the right to play in the 3A state tournament for the second straight season. SHG brought home a fourth place trophy a season ago.
SHG will play Washington at 12:30 in Friday's semifinals at the East Peoria Eastside Centre. The Cyclones lost to Washington 5-3 in 10 innings in last year's 3A semifinals.
